Product description
The set of a black glass bottle with a volume of 15 ml and a plastic oil pump dispenser with a transparent cap is designed for filling and dispensing liquid oil-based preparations: facial and hair oils, oil serums, blends of carrier oils with essential oils, or oils for the beard and cuticles. The opaque black glass blocks light from reaching the contents, which helps slow down oxidation and loss of fragrance in oils and oil serums. The dispenser delivers a small, repeatable amount with each press, so the oil does not spill and the dose for the face or hair is always approximately the same.
The small volume is suitable for travel packaging, customer samples, initial test batches of a new product, or for more expensive oils and serums that are dosed drop by drop.
How the set works
- Black glass bottle 15 ml – glass body with a thread onto which the dispenser screws directly without an adapter.
- Oil dispenser – black pump with a suction tube. One press delivers approximately 0.18 ml, which is sufficient for the face or a small area of skin.
- Transparent cap – covers the dispenser head and protects the opening from dust and accidental pressing.
All three parts are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle on its own has a food-contact certificate. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim, stated in the parameters, is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the dispenser tube, which after screwing in pushes part of the contents upward, and for the expansion of oil with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled to the brim, the oil would be forced out through the thread when the dispenser is screwed in.
After screwing on the dispenser, press it empty several times until the tube fills and starts delivering a full dose. The first two to three presses will deliver less or nothing – this is not a fault.
What it is suitable for
The set with a dispenser and tube is designed for liquid oils and oil serums. With thicker oils, macerations with a higher proportion of solid components, or mixtures containing wax, the dispenser may be harder to pump. We recommend testing the behaviour with your specific formulation on a single unit before filling a larger batch.
The oil dispenser is intended for oil-based contents. For aqueous tonics, hydrolates, or alcohol-based tinctures, choose a spray or dropper with the same neck type instead.
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and ready-made combinations of container and closure, are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. Residual water under the oil is an unnecessary risk in anhydrous preparations. The dispenser and tube only need to be rinsed with alcohol and left to drain.
The bottle can be reused. Glass withstands routine washing with warm water and disinfection with alcohol. Sudden temperature changes, such as pouring hot water into a cold bottle, can damage the glass, so let it come to temperature before washing. When refilling, check the dispenser to ensure the seal holds and the plastic has not softened; replace it with a new one if necessary.
With blends that have a high proportion of essential oils or citrus components, test on a single unit to see how the plastic parts react. Monitor whether the transparent cap or dispenser becomes cloudy or softens over time.
Black glass protects the contents from light, not from heat. Oils sensitive to oxidation, such as linseed, hemp, or rosehip, should be stored in a cool place away from direct sunlight even in this packaging.
After emptying, the glass bottle belongs in the glass recycling, the dispenser and transparent cap in plastics. Rinse the bottle before disposing of it.
