Product description

Glass dropper bottle, glossy black, 15 ml

A small glass vial with a black-and-gold dropper is a ready-made set for precise drop-by-drop dispensing of liquid cosmetics. Opaque glossy black glass protects the contents from light, making it suitable for facial serums, oils, essential oil blends and tinctures that lose efficacy or change scent when exposed to light. The 15 ml volume is practical for small and travel-size packaging, samples and more expensive active ingredients that are dosed by drops.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone additionally holds a certificate for direct food contact, but the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – opaque black glass does not transmit light, which slows the oxidation of oils and the degradation of sensitive active ingredients, such as vitamin C, retinol or essential oils.
  • Precise dosing – the dropper draws up and measures the contents drop by drop, which is important for serums and concentrates where only a small amount is applied.
  • Inert glass – glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, does not absorb fragrance and does not release any substances into the contents.
  • Consistent appearance – the glossy black bottle with the gold dropper collar suits a dark or minimalist label design.
  • Reusable – both the glass bottle and the dropper can be washed, disinfected and refilled.

What products is the set suitable for

The dropper bottle is suitable for liquid, low to medium viscosity preparations that are dispensed drop by drop:

  • facial serums on both water and oil bases,
  • facial and hair oils, oil concentrates, beard and cuticle oils,
  • essential oil blends and fragrance compositions,
  • tinctures, alcohol extracts and concentrated active ingredients.

The dropper is not suitable for thick creams, high-viscosity gels or preparations containing solid particles. The contents will not draw up into it or will clog the narrow tube.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during standard filling. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the submerged dropper tube and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck after the dropper is fitted and contaminate the thread.

Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product promotes the growth of microorganisms and impairs stability.

Good to know

  • Opacity – through black glass the fill level is not visible, nor is any cloudiness or sediment. When checking batch stability, therefore keep a sample in a clear container as well.
  • Dropper and essential oils – the glass tube is resistant to essential oils; the bulb is made of a flexible material. With highly concentrated essential oil blends or solvents, check whether the bulb softens or changes shape over time.
  • Leakproofness – the dropper seals via the thread and the gasket in the collar. Before transport, tighten it by hand without force and carry the bottle in an upright position.
  • Temperature change – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not fill a cold bottle with hot contents and do not place it in the freezer.
  • Label – the glossy surface is smooth and labels adhere well to it.
  • Closures – closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and ready-made bottle + closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, verify the seal, dosing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation in advance.
  • Recycling – the glass bottle goes in the glass bin. The dropper is made of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Protect the glass dropper tube from impact. If dropped or over-tightened, it may break and fragments can enter the contents.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, glossy black glass is opaque and does not transmit light. It protects the contents more thoroughly than amber or blue glass, which transmit some light. It is therefore suitable for preparations that oxidise when exposed to light, such as unsaturated vegetable oils, essential oils or serums with sensitive active ingredients.
How much does the dropper bottle actually hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total brim-full volume is larger, but this reserve is taken up by the submerged dropper tube and the space for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If overfilled, the contents will leak through the thread after the dropper is fitted and the bottle will not seal.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, the set is suitable for essential oil blends and concentrates. Both the glass bottle and the glass dropper tube are resistant to them. With very concentrated blends or preparations containing solvents, monitor the dropper bulb for changes in flexibility or shape over time.
Can the glass dropper bottle be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the dropper can be washed and refilled. Wash the glass with warm water and a cleaning agent; rinse the dropper by repeatedly drawing up and expelling water and then ethanol. Allow both parts to dry completely before filling with new contents, especially for oil-based and anhydrous products.
Can I fill the dropper bottle with food or syrups?
No, the set as a whole is not intended for contact with food. Only the glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper does not. The bottle + dropper set is therefore intended for cosmetic preparations for external use, such as serums, oils and tinctures.
Is the dropper also suitable for water-based serums, or only for oils?
The dropper dispenses both water-based and oil-based preparations; the difference lies only in drop size. Water-based serums form smaller drops than oils, so specify dosage in the instructions in drops for the specific product. Water-based preparations must always be preserved, because repeated use of the dropper introduces air and microorganisms into the bottle.
