Product description
A small glass bottle with a spray pump for tonics, facial mists, hydrolats and eau de parfum that you want to apply as a fine mist directly to skin or hair. The black glossy glass is opaque, so the contents are protected from light, which helps light-sensitive ingredients such as essential oils, botanical extracts or vitamins. The 15 ml volume is suitable for samples, travel sizes, test batches of new formulations and small gift items.
The set consists of a glass vial with a screw neck and a plastic spray pump with a black top that matches the bottle in colour. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and the complete set is intended for cosmetic products.
Key features
- Light protection – the opaque black glass lets no light through; the contents are not visible even against a light source. Beneficial for hydrolats, tonics with botanical extracts and eau de parfum.
- Fine dosage – the spray pump releases approximately 0.14 ml per press, applying water-based and alcohol-based contents in a thin layer without running.
- Glass with no effect on contents – glass does not react with essential oils, alcohol or acidic tonics, making it suitable for more concentrated blends as well.
- Reusable – after washing and disinfecting the bottle, simply refill it; rinse the spray pump with clean water and allow to dry.
What it's suitable for
The spray pump works best with low-viscosity liquid contents: facial tonics, hydrolats, refreshing face and hair mists, alcoholic eau de parfum and light hair sprays without thickeners. For contents with a higher proportion of alcohol or essential oils, the combination of glass and opacity is a definite advantage.
Thick oils, gel-consistency serums or emulsions may not be atomised evenly by the spray pump, and the mechanism can become clogged. For such contents, test the behaviour with the finished formulation directly, or choose a dropper or pump closure instead.
Nominal and total volume
The bottle is designed to be filled with 15 ml of content — that is its nominal volume. The total volume to the brim stated in the specifications is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the spray tube, which displaces some volume when screwed in, and for the expansion of contents with temperature changes. Therefore, fill the bottle to the nominal volume only, never to the brim, or the contents will overflow when the spray pump is attached.
Before the first fill, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and can cause cloudiness in alcohol-based perfumes.
What's worth knowing
Opaque glass has its downside too: the remaining contents are not visible. When selling or testing, track consumption by weight or estimate it by the number of presses.
The spray tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting, trim it with a sharp knife so that it reaches the bottom without bending. A few presses are needed on first use until the tube fills and the spray pattern stabilises.
Glass cannot withstand sudden temperature changes. Fill the contents once cooled to room temperature; do not pour hot liquids into the bottle. The spray pump is made of polypropylene and is declared suitable for cosmetic products. With concentrated essential oils or solvents, check the tightness and performance of the mechanism after a few days of testing.
The spray pump does not have a certification for food contact. Only the glass bottle holds this certification individually. For homemade herbal extracts or culinary oils, use the bottle with a different closure that is approved for food contact.
Once finished, the bottle should go into glass recycling and the spray pump into plastics. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For your own combinations, verify the seal, dosage and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
