Product description

A black glossy glass bottle with a capacity of 15 ml and a white nasal spray-type dispenser forms a ready-to-use set for small quantities of liquid cosmetic preparations applied by spraying. The opaque black glass protects the contents from light, making it suitable for hydrolats, tonics and light aqueous solutions with active ingredients that lose their efficacy or change colour in light. The dispenser has a long narrow applicator and releases a small measured dose with each press, allowing targeted application even on small areas.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle alone also holds a certificate for direct food contact; the dispenser does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Hydrolats and tonics for travel – the small volume and tight dispenser allow you to carry facial water in a handbag without the risk of leaking.
  • Facial and body mists – spraying creates fine droplets that spread evenly on the skin without running.
  • Aqueous solutions of active ingredients – sensitive components, such as vitamin C or plant extracts, remain protected from light inside the black glass.
  • Scalp tonic – the narrow applicator reaches between the hair directly to the scalp without unnecessarily wetting the lengths.
  • Samples and testers – 15 ml is enough to try out a new formula with customers or during development.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 15 ml is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total capacity to the brim, stated in the specifications, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the dispenser tube and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume. When filled to the brim, tightening the dispenser will push some of the contents out through the thread.

The dispenser has a longer tube than the bottle is tall. Before assembling it for the first time, shorten it with an angled cut so that it ends just above the bottom without resting on it. A straight cut flush with the bottom can block suction, and the dispenser will then pump without drawing any liquid.

After screwing on the dispenser, press it several times to prime it until the tube and chamber fill with liquid. Only then will it dispense evenly. You cannot see the level through the dark glass, so record the fill quantity or weigh the bottle during production.

What is good to know

The dispenser is designed for aqueous and low-viscosity formulas. Thick serums, oils and emulsions of cream consistency cannot be sprayed through the narrow nozzle. The dispenser will clog or the liquid will simply come out in a stream. For solutions with a higher proportion of alcohol or with essential oils, we recommend checking how the plastic parts of the dispenser behave with the specific formulation.

Before the first fill, wash the bottle, disinfect it and allow it to dry completely. Rinse the dispenser with clean water, pump it through and allow it to dry separately from the bottle. A water-based formula with a small volume comes into contact with the tube and dispenser chamber with every use, so allow for reliable preservation.

The bottle is made of glass and can be reused. When changing the filling, wash and disinfect it again. The dispenser is harder to clean, and we recommend using a new one when changing the type of filling. Glass belongs in sorted glass waste; the dispenser is a combination of plastic and steel and is sorted according to the predominant material.

Black glass heats up quickly in sunlight. Do not leave the bottle in direct sunlight or behind a car window; the contents may overheat and change.

Closures and dispensers with the same neck type stated in the specifications, and further ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dosing with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black 15 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the black opaque glass protects the contents from light, making it suitable for solutions with vitamin C, plant extracts, hydrolats and other components that lose their efficacy or change colour in light. It protects only against light, however, not against heat. Dark glass heats up faster in sunlight, so keep the bottle away from heat sources.
Can the nasal spray dispenser be used to spray oil or serum?
No, the dispenser is designed for aqueous and thin liquids. Oils, thick serums and emulsions will clog the narrow nozzle or come out in a stream instead of a mist. For oil-based fillings, choose a bottle with a dropper or a dispenser for thick products. Hydrolats, tonics and light aqueous solutions belong in this set.
How much liquid does one press of the dispenser release?
One press releases approximately 0.12 ml of liquid. With a 15 ml filling this corresponds to approximately 120 doses; the tube cannot reach the last residues at the bottom. The exact amount depends on the viscosity of the filling and on whether the dispenser chamber is completely filled with liquid.
Why is the bottle filled to 15 ml when it can hold more?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml because the remaining space is needed by the dispenser tube and the expanding contents. When filled to the brim, tightening the dispenser will push some of the liquid out through the thread and the packaging may leak. The total volume to the brim is stated in the product specifications.
Is the glass bottle and dispenser set also suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic preparations. Only the glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the dispenser does not have such a certificate. The set is declared as suitable for cosmetic products.
How to clean the bottle and dispenser before reuse?
Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry upside down. Rinse the dispenser with clean water, pump it through several times and allow it to dry separately. When changing the type of filling, we recommend replacing the dispenser, as residues of the old formula are difficult to remove from the tube and chamber.
