Product description
A glass bottle with a dropper 30 ml is a ready-made combination of packaging and closure for products dispensed drop by drop. It is especially suitable for facial and oil serums, essential oil blends, tinctures and concentrates, where precise dosing in small quantities matters. Black glossy glass protects the contents from light and, together with the white glossy dropper, creates a contrasting, clean appearance suitable for retail packaging.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
Why choose this combination
- Light protection – black glass is opaque and does not transmit light, which helps slow the oxidation of oils, essential oils and active ingredients sensitive to UV radiation. The customer cannot see the contents, so it is advisable to describe them on the label.
- Precise dosing – the dropper allows the contents to be dispensed drop by drop without finger contact with the product, reducing the risk of contamination of leave-on products.
- Glass as an inert material – the glass bottle does not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol-based contents, making it suitable even for concentrated blends that could damage plastic packaging.
- Reusable – the bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection. If the contents have degraded the dropper over time, only the dropper needs to be replaced.
How the set works
The bottle has the shape of a vial with a narrow neck and the dropper screws on to it. The dropper closure consists of a glossy white cap with a silicone bulb that fills when squeezed, and a glass tube reaching to the bottom of the bottle. The length of the tube is adapted to the height of the bottle, so the contents can be drawn out even at a low fill level.
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the rim. The difference between the nominal and total volume is a reserve for the dropper tube, which when screwed on displaces some of the contents upward, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. When overfilled, the contents leak during closing and contaminate the thread.
The dropper reliably dispenses oil and water-based contents with low viscosity. Thick serums with a higher proportion of gelling agents are drawn up more slowly and dosing is less precise. With such a formulation, it is advisable to check on a test bottle whether the contents dispense comfortably through the dropper.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial and oil serums – vegetable oils and active ingredients are protected in dark glass; the dropper dispenses the typical few drops per application.
- Essential oil blends and aroma compositions – glass resists concentrated essential oils, which over time soften or cloud plastic.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – alcohol releases no substances from glass; the dropper allows precise dosing.
- Beard oil, cuticle oil or hair oil – a small package dispensed drop by drop that fits in a bag.
- Samples and test batches – a volume suitable for checking formulation stability before larger production.
What's good to know
- Preparation before first filling – it is advisable to wash both the bottle and the dropper before use, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in an oil product promotes the growth of microorganisms.
- Silicone bulb and essential oils – with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils or certain solvents, the silicone may soften. With such contents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the dropper on a test bottle and not squeezing the bulb when the bottle is upside down.
- Black glass and heat – dark glass heats up in sunlight more quickly than clear glass. A product stored on a windowsill or in a car may warm up, which is not beneficial for sensitive ingredients.
- Light and metallic labels stand out on black glass.
- Closures – closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When using your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
- Recycling – the glass bottle belongs in glass waste. The dropper is a combination of plastic, silicone and glass, so before disposal separate the glass tube from the plastic cap.
The dropper is not intended for transport lying flat. When shipping finished products, we recommend packaging the bottle in an upright position and sealing or securing the neck with shrink film.
