FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this glass bottle also suitable for concentrated oils or active substances?

The glass bottle is suitable for most common cosmetic oils, serums and solutions, with glass as a material being stable and, when used correctly, not disrupting the composition of the product. However, for highly concentrated or specific active substances we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – fill a smaller volume, observe the behaviour of the product over time and check sealing and dosing with the selected type of closure or applicator.

Can I use this bottle repeatedly for different products?

The packaging can be used repeatedly if correct hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle and closure must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to prevent microbial contamination or undesirable reactions with residues of the previous product. For disinfection we recommend using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, for example products available on Handymade: IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured vegetable. After disinfection, allow the bottle and closure to dry thoroughly at room temperature and only then fill with a new product.

How should the glass packaging be properly cleaned before further use?

First mechanically remove product residues by rinsing with warm water and a mild cleaning agent. We then recommend repeated rinsing with clean water so that no surface-active substances remain in the packaging. After washing, it is advisable to disinfect the bottle and closure with an alcohol-based preparation (for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) and allow them to dry completely. When working, pay attention to clean tools and minimize contact of the internal parts of the packaging with your hands as much as possible to reduce the risk of recontamination.

How should the glass bottle be correctly disposed of or recycled after it has reached the end of its life?

If you decide not to use the packaging repeatedly, we recommend placing it in sorted collection according to local recycling rules. The glass part of the bottle usually belongs in the container designated for glass, while the aluminium cap should, if possible, be separated and placed in the appropriate container for metal packaging if your collection system allows it. Before placing in sorted waste, we recommend removing coarse product residues from the bottle and closure by rinsing to facilitate the subsequent recycling process. Always adapt detailed recycling recommendations to the information given in the product parameter table and to the instructions of your local waste collection service.
