Product description
Glass bottle, clear, with black glossy dropper, 10 ml is a complete set of a glass vial and dropper for everything dispensed drop by drop. Clear glass reveals the colour and clarity of the contents; the dropper draws exactly as much as the formula requires. It is a typical choice for facial serums, oil blends, fragrance composition samples or small amounts of active ingredients added to other preparations.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity and technical documentation are included with the product. This set is not approved for contact with food; it is intended for cosmetic and technical purposes.
What the set is suitable for
- Oil serums and plant oil blends – glass does not react with oils and the dropper can handle even thicker oils.
- Diluted essential oils and fragrance compositions – glass is resistant to essential oils and alcohol, which would gradually degrade some plastics.
- Concentrated active ingredients – for raw materials dosed in tenths of a percent, dropping is more precise than pouring.
- Samples and test batches – the small volume allows a trial quantity to be made without wasting raw materials.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – a glass bottle with a dropper is a common way of packaging alcohol-based preparations in small volumes.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper, which after screwing in displaces some of the contents upward, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents will overflow when the dropper is inserted and the neck will remain greasy. The exact values of both volumes are given in the parameters.
Before filling a larger batch, test on one bottle to see where the level reaches after inserting the dropper. With thicker oils and serums, the level settles more slowly, so wait a moment before assessing the fill height.
How the dropper works and dispenses
The dropper has a glass tube and a soft silicone bulb that is squeezed with the fingers. The glass tube does not bend even with thicker oils and does not absorb scent, so repeated use does not alter the character of the contents. Drop size depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the liquid; watery tonics form smaller drops than oils. If a formula requires a precise amount, it is more reliable to weigh the contents and determine the number of drops for that particular liquid once in advance.
The length of the dropper corresponds to the height of the vial; the tube reaches almost to the bottom, allowing the remaining contents to be drawn up too. The glossy black surface of the dropper complements the clear glass.
What is worth knowing
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. It is best suited for preparations that are used up quickly, or for contents whose colour is part of the presentation. Store light-sensitive ingredients in the dark or choose amber or blue glass.
Preparation before first filling. Wash the bottle and dropper before use, and if needed disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the glass tube can introduce moisture into an anhydrous oil and reduce its stability.
Repeated use. Both the glass and the glass tube of the dropper can be washed and reused. Check the silicone bulb after washing. If it has hardened or lost its elasticity, the dropper will no longer dispense reliably.
Tightness during transport. The dropper is a dispensing closure, not a closure for long transport in luggage. When shipping filled bottles, seal them securely and store upright in protective packaging. During larger temperature fluctuations, the contents may rise into the tube.
Label. The cylindrical shape of the vial allows a label to be applied around the circumference; the dimensions of the vial are given in the packaging parameters.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Allow a hot mixture to cool to at least lukewarm before filling, and never fill the bottle immediately after taking it out of the refrigerator.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and container behaviour with the specific formulation. Glass belongs in sorted glass recycling; the dropper should be separated before recycling.
