Product description

The clear glass medicine bottle with dropper is intended for filling with facial and hair oils, oil serums, tinctures and other liquid products that are dispensed by the drop. Clear glass lets you see the contents, so you can check their colour and clarity at any time, and the finished product looks good on display. After washing, the bottle can be refilled. The nominal volume of 100 ml suits massage, body or hair oil, that is, products that are used up faster than a small facial serum.

The dropper with a matte silver shell and a silicone bulb screws onto an 18/410 neck finish. The glass tube of the dropper is sized to fit this bottle, so the contents can be drawn up almost to the very bottom and no unnecessary residue is left in the bottle. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial and hair oils – the dropper dispenses by the drop directly onto your palm or into your hair, without pouring and without your fingers touching the contents.
  • Oil serums and blends with active ingredients – you will appreciate the precise dispensing with concentrated products, of which only a few drops are used at a time.
  • Tinctures and alcohol solutions – the clarity of the bottle shows any cloudiness or sediment in the extract.
  • Water-based toners and low-viscosity serums – the dropper draws them up without difficulty. However, a water-based filling must be properly preserved, as the packaging does not replace preservation.

The dropper cannot draw up thick gels, creams or products with higher viscosity. A jar or a bottle with a pump is more suitable for those.

Volume and filling

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which raises the level once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water from washing does not belong in an anhydrous oil or an alcohol tincture, and in a water-based product it needlessly burdens the preservative system.

Good to know

  • Light – clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store oils prone to oxidation, essential oils and light-sensitive active ingredients in the dark, or choose amber or blue glass.
  • Heat – do not pour a hot filling into a cold bottle. Let the contents cool down first, as a sudden temperature change can crack the glass.
  • Dropper bulb – the silicone bulb comes into contact mainly with the vapours of the contents. With concentrated essential oils and solvents, we recommend checking its condition after a longer period and replacing the dropper if necessary.
  • Shipping – when sending finished products, check the tightness with your specific formulation and transport the bottle upright, not lying on its side.
  • Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper combines glass, silicone, aluminium and plastic, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The dropper does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for homemade oils, syrups or extracts for consumption.

Frequently asked questions

Does the clear 100 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass does not filter out light, and the contents remain exposed to both daylight and artificial light. It is therefore suitable for products that are used up quickly, or for those that you keep in a cabinet or box. For oils prone to yellowing, essential oils and sensitive active ingredients, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
To what level should the glass bottle with dropper be filled?
Fill it to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The remaining space up to the neck is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which raises the level once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents during warmer storage. If you fill to the brim, the contents will overflow when the dropper is fitted and soil the thread.
Is the glass bottle with dropper suitable for water-based serums and toners?
Yes, the dropper draws up low-viscosity water-based and alcohol-based products without difficulty. However, a water-based filling must be preserved, as the packaging does not protect it from microbial contamination. The tube of the dropper comes into contact with air and skin with every use, so a preservative system is essential for water-based products.
Can the glass bottle with dropper be reused?
Yes, the glass can be washed, disinfected and refilled. Wash the dropper including the tube and the bulb, rinse it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. If the bulb has hardened, changed colour or stopped holding the vacuum, replace it with a new dropper with an 18/410 neck finish.
Is the set of bottle and dropper also suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, and the dropper does not have one. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal extracts for consumption, use a bottle with a closure whose food suitability is stated in the parameters.
What other closures fit the 100 ml glass bottle with an 18/410 neck finish?
All closures with the same 18/410 neck finish from the Handymade range fit the bottle. Ready-made combinations of bottle and closure have their own description. If you assemble your own set, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific contents, as the behaviour differs depending on viscosity and alcohol content.
