Product description

Black glass bottle with dropper is a ready-made set for filling small volumes of liquid products where protection of the contents from light and precise drop-by-drop dosing matter. The opaque black glass blocks light completely, making it particularly suitable for facial and oil serums with sensitive active ingredients, essential oil blends, concentrates and samples. The 15 ml volume corresponds to a standard facial serum packaging or a small oil blend.

The set consists of a glass vial with a glossy black surface and a dropper with a matte black collar and a glossy stripe that matches the bottle in colour. The dropper screws onto the neck like a standard cap. Its glass tube reaches almost to the bottom and the silicone bulb allows you to draw up and dispense the required amount without the contents touching your fingers.

Why this set

  • Light protection – black glass is opaque, so the contents are not exposed to daylight or artificial light. For oils prone to oxidation and serums with sensitive active ingredients, this is more practical than clear or merely tinted glass.
  • Drop-by-drop dosing – the dropper allows you to measure out exactly as much as needed for a single use. For concentrated products, this is more economical and hygienic than pouring from the neck.
  • Glass with no interaction with the contents – both the glass bottle and the glass tube of the dropper are chemically inert, do not absorb scent or colour, and tolerate oil-based, water-based and alcohol-based contents.
  • Uniform appearance – the matte collar with a glossy stripe on glossy black glass looks cohesive even without a label, which is appreciated for samples or small batches.
  • Matched dropper length – the tube is matched to the height of the bottle, so the last residue of the contents can also be drawn up.

Filling and dosing

The bottle has a nominal volume and a total volume to the brim, both values are listed in the specifications. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for during normal filling. The total volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them is the headspace you need with a dropper: when screwed on, the tube is submerged in the contents and displaces some liquid upwards, and the space is also needed for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

The level is not visible through black glass, so when filling, measure the dose beforehand on a scale or with a measuring cup. When filled to the nominal volume and with the dropper fitted, the contents will not overflow through the neck.

Before the first filling, we recommend washing the bottle and dropper, rinsing with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Any residual water in the tube would otherwise get into the anhydrous oil or serum.

What is good to know

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle has a certificate for direct food contact on its own; the dropper does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics and we do not recommend it for food use.

The dropper consists of a plastic collar, a glass tube and a silicone bulb. Glass is neutral towards the contents, but silicone and plastic may soften or absorb scent over time with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils, undiluted fragrance components or solvents. With such contents, we recommend monitoring the condition of the bulb and using a new dropper when changing the formula.

The dropper does not seal the bottle as tightly as a full screw cap. With volatile contents and during transport, store the bottle upright and verify the seal with the specific formulation.

The glass bottle can be reused and withstands washing and alcohol disinfection. Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as filling hot contents into cold glass. The glossy black surface holds light or transparent labels with white or gold print well. When recycling, the bottle goes into glass; the dropper, once disassembled, is sorted by material: the tube as glass, the collar as plastic.

Closures with the same neck type as listed in the specifications, and other ready-made bottle + closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dosing with the specific contents.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, black glass is opaque and does not allow light to reach the contents. Compared to brown or blue glass, which only partially filters light, this offers significantly higher protection. It is therefore suitable for oils prone to oxidation, serums with vitamins and retinoids, and essential oil blends. The bottle itself, however, does not replace proper composition and antioxidants in the formulation.
Why is the bottle with dropper not filled to the brim?
Because the dropper tube, once screwed on, displaces some of the contents upwards, and the liquid needs room to expand when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume stated in the specifications; the difference to the total volume to the brim is exactly this headspace. If overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted and contaminate the thread.
Is the bottle and dropper set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle has a certificate for direct food contact on its own; the dropper with its plastic collar and silicone bulb does not. If you need a container for home oils or herbal extracts, choose a closure for this bottle that is separately declared for food contact.
Can the dropper be used for essential oils and alcohol-based tinctures?
Yes, but with verification. The glass bottle and the glass tube of the dropper can tolerate essential oils and alcohol without change. The silicone bulb and plastic collar may soften or absorb scent with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils. For diluted blends and serums this is standard use; for undiluted essential oils, we recommend monitoring the condition of the bulb and replacing the dropper as needed.
Can the black glass bottle with dropper be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and alcohol disinfection. Wash the dropper including the inside of the tube, allow it to dry completely and check that the bulb still holds firmly and draws up liquid. When changing the contents, especially from a fragrance blend to an unscented serum, we recommend a new dropper to prevent scent transfer.
