Product description

A glass bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a white and gold dropper makes a ready-to-use set for dispensing liquid cosmetic products drop by drop. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so it is particularly suitable for facial oils, serums and oil blends, where you want to see what is in the bottle. The narrow neck with an 18/410 neck finish holds the dropper firmly, and the medicine bottle shape stands stably on a shelf or a dressing table.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

The dropper dispenses precisely and in small amounts. You will appreciate this with products where the dose matters and where the contents should not be exposed to air unnecessarily.

  • Facial and hair oils – thin oils are easily drawn into the glass tube, and one or two drops are enough to treat the face.
  • Oil serums with active ingredients – clear glass does not alter the perception of colour, so you can easily check whether the contents have turned cloudy over time.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and the dropper lets you measure an exact number of drops into another product.
  • Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – diluted blends dispense without problems; for concentrated essential oils, see the note below.

How the set works

The dropper combines a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a white and gold metal sleeve, which gives the bottle an appearance suitable for selling or gifting as well. The length of the dropper is matched to the height of the bottle, so you can reach the last of the contents without tilting it.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store oils and active ingredients that are sensitive to light in a box or in the dark, or choose dark glass for them.

Filling and capacity

The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents overflow when the dropper is inserted and remain in the thread, where they eventually glue the closure shut.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Traces of water in an oil-based product shorten its shelf life and promote the growth of microorganisms.

Good to know

The set can be used repeatedly. However, the silicone part of the dropper may soften or change shape on longer contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents. For such contents, we recommend a trial filling and a check after a few weeks.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle, and the other way round; let the packaging reach the temperature of the product. When making a product with heat, fill the bottle only after the contents have cooled.

You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations of a bottle with a closure in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear glass bottle with a dropper protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass does not block light, and the contents are exposed to both daylight and artificial light. It is therefore suitable for products that are not sensitive to light, or for contents stored in a box or a cabinet. For oils with a high content of unsaturated fatty acids and for light-sensitive active ingredients, dark glass is the safer choice.
How much liquid actually fits into a 100 ml bottle with a dropper?
The bottle is designed to be filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml. The physical volume up to the neck is larger, but that space is taken up by the dropper tube and by the reserve for the expansion of the contents. If you fill the bottle to the brim, the contents overflow into the thread when you screw in the dropper, and the dropper seals less well.
Is the glass bottle and dropper set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, but the dropper has no declaration of suitability for food. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, that is, for oils, serums and tinctures intended for the skin.
Can the bottle with dropper be used for essential oils?
Yes, for essential oil blends diluted in a carrier oil; both the glass and the glass tube are resistant to them. For pure, concentrated essential oils, we recommend checking how the silicone bulb of the dropper behaves, because some essential oils and solvents can change the soft material over time. A trial filling with a small amount and a check after a few weeks will show whether the dropper keeps its shape and seals.
How do I clean the glass bottle and the dropper before reusing them?
Wash the bottle in hot water with washing-up liquid, rinse it, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to air-dry neck down. Take the dropper apart, rinse the tube with alcohol several times and squeeze the alcohol out with the bulb so that no oil residue remains inside. Both parts must be dry before the next filling, because residual water in an oil-based product promotes microbial contamination.
Is the dropper also suitable for thick serums or gels?
No, the dropper reliably dispenses only thin liquids such as oils, alcohol extracts and watery serums. Thick serums, gel textures and emulsions are difficult to draw into the tube and remain in it during dispensing. For such products, a bottle with a pump or a jar with a wider neck is more suitable.
