Product description
The clear glass bottle with a black fine mist sprayer is designed for hydrolates, facial toners, hair and body mists and other thin liquid products that are applied by spraying. The contents are dispensed without your fingers touching the formulation, which supports hygienic use even with products that have weaker preservation. Through the clear glass you can see the colour and clarity of the formulation and how much product is left.
The sprayer has a smoky overcap that protects the nozzle from dust and dirt in a handbag or on a shelf. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and is supplied as a ready-made combination of bottle and sprayer, so you do not need to look for a closure that fits the neck.
What it is suitable for
- Hydrolates and facial toners – watery formulations are sprayed evenly. One press dispenses a small amount that does not run off the skin.
- Refreshing and setting mists – water-based or water-and-glycerine preparations with active ingredients, for bare skin or over make-up.
- Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – thin solutions with hydrolates, infusions or a small proportion of oil incorporated with a solubiliser.
- Alcohol-based perfume and room mists – with a higher alcohol content, we recommend checking in advance how the sprayer performs with your particular formulation.
- Working solutions in the workshop – for example, alcohol for removing bubbles from soap base or for disinfecting tools.
The sprayer is built for thin liquids. Gel toners, emulsions and pure vegetable oils either do not pass through the nozzle or come out as a stream instead of a mist. For such formulations, choose a pump or a dropper.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim, stated in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides a reserve for the sprayer dip tube, which pushes the liquid level up once the sprayer is screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
Fit the sprayer onto the filled bottle slowly and vertically, so that the dip tube is not left bent against the wall. A bent dip tube does not reach the bottom, and the last millilitres cannot then be sprayed out.
Handling the packaging
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with alcohol and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times without liquid so that any remaining water runs out of the dip tube. Otherwise the water in the dip tube would dilute the first dose and, with unpreserved formulations, could be a source of contamination.
The glass withstands hot water and alcohol disinfection, but clean the plastic sprayer only with lukewarm water and alcohol. After filling, tighten the closure by hand, without tools. Before handing the bottle to a customer or putting it into a handbag, turn it upside down and check that it does not leak. Tightness depends on the thread seating correctly, so check it with every new batch of packaging.
Clear glass does not block light. Store hydrolates and formulations with essential oils or light-sensitive active ingredients in the dark or in a box. If the packaging itself is to shield the contents from light, choose an amber or blue bottle.
Good to know
Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The set with the sprayer is intended for cosmetics as a whole, so we do not recommend it for food use.
The sprayer is made of polypropylene. With formulations containing a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, check after a few weeks whether the tightness or the pump action changes. One dose is approximately 0.12 ml, which helps you estimate how many applications a customer gets from one bottle.
After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. After perfume or oil formulations, the sprayer usually cannot be cleaned completely, so replace it with a new one when you change the formulation. Before disposal, unscrew the sprayer; glass and plastic go into separate recycling.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle-plus-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your particular formulation.
