Glass bottle with black cap, 100 ml

The glass bottle with black cap is ready-to-use packaging for 100 ml of liquid cosmetics. The bottle has the shape of a pharmaceutical bottle and is closed with a threaded plastic cap. Glass does not react with the contents, does not absorb fragrance or oil, and can be reused, while the clear wall shows the colour and clarity of the contents. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is suitable for face and body oils, hydrolates, toners, tinctures, cleansing oils, hair serums or stock solutions of active ingredients that are decanted as needed.

The cap with 18/410 neck finish closes the bottle without dispensing, so the contents are poured or measured out. If you want to dispense the contents by the drop or spray them, you will find closures with the same neck finish, as well as ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation.

What it is suitable for

Vegetable and massage oils – glass does not soften or turn cloudy in contact with oils and, once washed, carries no traces of the previous contents.
Hydrolates, toners and face waters – water-based formulations pour easily from the bottle, and once used up the bottle can be washed and refilled.
Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass withstands ethanol as well as essential oils.
Stock solutions and intermediate products – the clear wall lets you watch for cloudiness, sediment or phase separation without opening the bottle.
Customer samples or batch testing – the 100 ml volume is suitable for a trial batch that you want to evaluate before larger production.

Good to know

Clear glass lets light through, so it does not protect the contents from it. Store oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, essential oils or plant extracts in the bottle in the dark, or in an outer box. For long-term storage of light-sensitive substances, amber or blue glass is more suitable.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle or the other way round. Let the formulation cool to approximately room temperature before filling.

Nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill only up to the nominal volume, otherwise the contents may be pushed into the thread and the seal will be less reliable.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, rinse them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely, neck down. Residual water should not get into an anhydrous product.

The cap is made of PP plastic with an EPE liner that sits on the neck and seals the contents. With strongly fragranced essential oils, the liner may become saturated with the scent, so when you change the contents we recommend replacing at least the cap. When screwing it on, there is no need to use great force; tightening firmly by hand is enough.

The bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the cap does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics. If you need packaging for homemade oils or syrups, combine the bottle with a closure that is suitable for food.

Once empty and rinsed, the bottle goes into glass recycling and the cap into plastic.

The limitation is the clear wall, because essential oils oxidise faster in light. Therefore, store the contents in the dark or in an outer box, and let the formulation cool to room temperature before filling.

What closure fits a 100 ml glass bottle with an 18/410 neck finish?

Closures with the 18/410 neck finish, which is given in the parameters, fit the bottle. Instead of the plain cap in this set, you can choose a dispensing closure, for example a dropper or a fine mist sprayer with the same neck finish. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation, especially with oils of higher viscosity.
