Product description

Glass bottle with a spray pump is a ready-made set for products applied by spraying: facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists, hair sprays, alcohol-based sprays, and home and textile fragrances. It consists of a clear glass vial with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a white plastic spray pump with a dip tube that releases a small, evenly dispersed dose with each press.

The set suits anyone who wants to dispense a liquid product without the hands touching the contents while keeping the look of a glass container. Glass does not absorb fragrances and does not react with aqueous or alcohol-based contents, so it also withstands repeated refilling with the same or a different product.

Key features

  • Clear glass – the contents are visible, so you can easily check the amount and the clarity of the liquid.
  • Spray pump with a fine dose – each press releases a small amount as a mist, so the product is applied evenly and is not wasted by over-dosing.
  • Dip tube reaching the bottom – the pump draws the contents from the lower part, so almost the entire bottle is used up.
  • Glass and plastic recyclable separately – after use, the bottle and the pump are easily separated; the bottle goes into glass, the pump into plastics.
  • Cosmetic quality – the set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

The spray pump works best with thin aqueous and alcohol-based liquids. Suitable ones are:

  • Hydrosols and facial toners – the mist is applied directly to the skin without cotton pads, which is gentler and more economical.
  • Refreshing facial and body mists – light aqueous products with moisturising ingredients or dissolved active substances.
  • Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – liquid, non-thickened formulations that are sprayed onto the lengths of the hair.
  • Alcohol-based sprays – sprays for tools or surfaces and refreshers for textiles.
  • Home and pillow fragrances – water-alcohol solutions of fragrance ingredients with a solubiliser.

The set is not suitable for oils, thicker serums or emulsions. The spray pump will not disperse thick contents into a mist, the dosing is uneven, and the mechanism may clog. With very thin dry oils spraying can be attempted, but the behaviour should be verified with the specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

With containers, a distinction is made between the nominal volume and the total volume to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume all the way up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the dip tube and the spray mechanism, which reaches inside the bottle, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled up to the neck, part of the contents would be pushed out when the pump is screwed on and there would be a risk of leaking through the thread.

Before filling a larger batch, fill one bottle to the nominal volume, screw on the spray pump and press it several times until the dip tube draws up the liquid. This verifies the tightness of the thread, the dosing, and whether the pump produces an even mist with your formulation.

Preparation and reuse

Before the first filling we recommend washing the bottle, rinsing it and disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then letting it dry completely upside down. The spray pump is rinsed with warm water, and pressing it several times forces out the residual water that would otherwise dilute the first doses of the product.

When changing the contents, it is enough to wash and disinfect the bottle again. The spray pump is cleaned by pumping warm water through it and then air, so that no residue of the previous product remains in the dip tube and nozzle. If it was used for alcohol-based or strongly scented contents, we recommend replacing it for a new cosmetic product.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store light- and UV-sensitive products, such as hydrosols with essential oils, solutions with vitamin C or plant extracts, away from direct sunlight, or choose dark glass for them. The transparency, in turn, makes it possible to continuously monitor the clarity and any changes in the contents.

The spray pump is made of polypropylene. Concentrated essential oils, pure solvents or products with a high proportion of non-polar ingredients may over time affect the seal and the mechanism. With such contents, verify the behaviour of the spray pump over several weeks before starting larger-scale production.

Good to know

  • Food contact – the glass bottle on its own holds an attestation for direct contact with food. The spray pump does not hold such an attestation, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
  • Labelling – a wrap-around label can be applied to the bottle.
  • Temperature when filling – fill a cooled product. Warm contents would expand after closing, and a sudden temperature change risks cracking the glass.
  • Other closures – the bottle has a neck with the thread type stated in the parameters. Closures, droppers or pumps with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, verify the tightness and dosing with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml glass bottle with a spray pump suitable for a hydrosol?
Yes, hydrosols and toners are the most suitable contents for this set. These are thin aqueous liquids that the spray pump disperses into a fine mist without clogging. Since clear glass does not protect against light, store the hydrosol away from direct sunlight, and with longer use expect the need to preserve the aqueous product.
Can oil or serum be dispensed through the spray pump?
No, the spray pump will not disperse thicker oils, serums or emulsions into a mist. The dose is uneven, the contents run down the nozzle, and the mechanism gradually clogs. Very thin dry oils may be an exception, but their behaviour needs to be verified. For oil-based products we recommend combining the bottle with a dropper or a pump.
Up to how many millilitres should the glass bottle with a spray pump be filled?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The remaining space above the liquid level serves as a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the pump, which reach into the bottle when screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If filled up to the neck, the liquid would be pushed out through the thread.
Does the clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass provides no protection against light or UV radiation. The advantage is the visible contents and easy checking of the amount and clarity. Store light-sensitive products away from sunlight, or choose brown or blue glass for them.
Is the bottle with a spray pump set suitable for contact with food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food and is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle on its own holds an attestation for direct contact with food; the spray pump does not hold such an attestation. For home-made oils, syrups or extracts, therefore choose a bottle with a closure that has a food-grade attestation.
How is the glass bottle with a spray pump cleaned for reuse?
The bottle is washed, rinsed, disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and left to dry completely upside down. The spray pump is pumped through with warm water and then air, so that no product residue remains in the dip tube or nozzle. After alcohol-based or strongly scented contents, it is better to replace the spray pump for a new cosmetic product.
