Product description
The clear 50 ml glass bottle with a silver matte dropper is a ready-made set for serums, facial oils and tinctures that are dispensed drop by drop. The clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so customers can immediately see a golden oil, a clear serum or a tincture coloured by herbs. The nominal volume of 50 ml corresponds to a common pack size of facial serum or oil that lasts several weeks.
The dropper combines a glass tube, a flexible silicone head and an aluminium collar in a white and silver matte finish, which looks clean and unobtrusive on clear glass. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial serums – both oil-based and water-based, applied to the face in amounts of a few drops.
- Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – massage and aromatherapy blends, where the dropper makes precise dispensing into a diffuser or onto the palm easier.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and the contents are dispensed drop by drop into a toner or facial water.
- Concentrates of active ingredients – samples and small batches that the maker adds to recipes in percentages and needs to measure precisely.
- Nail, cuticle or beard oil – products where one or two drops are enough.
How to work with the set
Pressing the head draws the contents into the tube, and they are released drop by drop onto the skin or into a container. This works best for thin to medium-thick liquids, that is oils, water-based solutions and alcohol extracts. Thick gels, balms and emulsions with higher viscosity are difficult to draw into the tube and are better suited to a jar or a bottle with a pump.
When filling, go by the nominal volume, not by the edge of the neck. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces part of the volume, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. A bottle filled to the brim will overflow when the dropper is screwed in.
Glass withstands heat, but the contents should be cooled before filling. A hot oil phase or a freshly brewed extract can damage the glass through a sudden temperature difference. Closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, as well as ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and let them dry completely. Residual water in an oil serum reduces its stability and encourages the growth of microorganisms.
Good to know
Clear glass does not block light. Store products with light-sensitive ingredients, for example unstabilised vegetable oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or sensitive active ingredients, in a box or out of direct sunlight. For contents that are sensitive to light in the long term, an amber or blue bottle with a dropper is more suitable.
During transport, keep the bottle upright. The dropper seals well in normal use, but if the bottle lies on its side for a longer time and is shaken, oil may seep around the tube. Before sending finished products to customers, we recommend checking the tightness on several bottles with the actual contents.
With blends containing a high proportion of undiluted essential oils or solvents, check whether the head of the dropper changes its flexibility or shape over time. The glass tube does not react with such contents.
After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be used repeatedly. It is worth replacing the dropper when the head hardens or the tube chips. For recycling, the bottle belongs with glass, while the dropper is made of several materials and is disposed of separately.
The set with a dropper is not approved for contact with food as a whole. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal extracts for the kitchen, use the glass bottle on its own with a closure that has a food-contact certificate.
