Product description

A small glass vial-shaped bottle with a dropper is designed for preparations that are dosed drop by drop and consumed gradually. The nominal volume of 10 ml suits facial and oil serums, essential oil blends, cuticle oils, beard oils, tinctures, as well as samples and test batches of new formulations.

Green glass partially filters light, helping to slow down changes in light-sensitive contents, while still allowing the contents to show through slightly. Glass does not react with oils or alcohol-based solutions, making the bottle suitable for preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils where plastic is best avoided. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

How the set works

  • Drop-by-drop dosing – the dropper picks up exactly as much preparation as needed for a single use, without pouring and without finger contact with the contents of the bottle.
  • Content hygiene – the neck does not open wide, which reduces the risk of contamination for serums and concentrates.
  • Material combination – the dropper combines aluminium, glass, silicone and plastic; the glass tube comes into contact with the contents, the silicone bulb is used for squeezing.
  • Length adapted to the bottle – the tube reaches all the way to the bottom, so the last remnants of the contents can also be drawn up.
  • Uniform neck – both the bottle and the dropper have the same thread type; the set is coordinated and the seal of the joint does not need to be addressed by selecting a closure.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended for regular filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference creates a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which when screwed in pushes part of the contents upwards, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, after fitting the dropper the contents will reach the thread, making the bottle harder to clean and risking leakage.

For oil serums with a thicker consistency or a higher proportion of butters, the dropper fills more slowly and the drops are larger. If precise dosing is important, test the formulation in this set before larger production runs.

What to know before filling

Before first use, both the bottle and the dropper are washed, rinsed and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Any moisture remaining in the dropper tube would get into the anhydrous oil or serum and could impair its stability.

Glass can withstand regular cleaning with warm water. The dropper has a silicone squeeze bulb and plastic parts, so it should be cleaned gently and not boiled. Silicone is more resistant to essential oils than natural rubber; for concentrated blends it is nevertheless recommended to monitor whether the bulb softens or becomes sticky over time.

The dropper seals properly during normal upright storage. The bottle should not be carried upside down or transported loose in a bag. The contents could get into the bulb and spray out when next squeezed.

The label area corresponds to the small size of the bottle; exact dimensions are listed in the specifications. For serums containing essential oils, a label with oil-resistant adhesive is recommended to prevent it from peeling off after a few days.

The set is not intended for food use. Neither the bottle nor the dropper is certified for direct food contact, so it should not be used for edible oils, syrups or herbal extracts for internal use.

When recycling, the glass bottle is sorted as glass. The dropper consists of several materials that cannot easily be separated, so it does not belong in the glass bin.

Frequently asked questions

Does the green glass bottle with dropper 10 ml protect the contents from light?
Partially, yes. Green glass filters light and helps slow down changes in light-sensitive contents, but does not provide complete protection. For very sensitive ingredients, such as serums with vitamin C or retinoids, it is recommended to store the bottle away from direct sunlight or to opt for amber glass, which filters light more effectively.
Is the green glass bottle with dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, the glass bottle is suitable for essential oils and their blends, as glass does not react with them. The dropper has a glass tube and a silicone bulb, which is more resistant to essential oils than rubber. For concentrated blends, it is recommended to monitor the condition of the bulb and replace the dropper if its properties change.
How much can actually be filled into the 10 ml dropper bottle?
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not to the brim. The bottle has slightly more capacity to the brim, but this reserve is taken up by the glass tube of the dropper and the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If overfilled, after fitting the dropper the contents will reach the thread and the bottle may leak.
Can the green glass dropper bottle be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, without limitation. The dropper should be cleaned gently, as it contains a silicone bulb and plastic parts. If the bulb has lost its elasticity or residues of old contents remain in the tube, it is advisable to replace the dropper with a new one of the same neck type.
Is the 10 ml dropper bottle suitable for water tonics or hydrosols?
It is suitable, but with limitations. Aqueous preparations can be dosed with a dropper without problems; however, with water-based formulations, effective preservation must be taken into account, as the dropper re-enters the bottle with each use and introduces air. For larger volumes of tonics, a spray bottle is more practical.
Can a different closure be used instead of a dropper?
Yes, the bottle has a standard neck type listed in the specifications and closures with the same thread from the Handymade range can be fitted to it. Ready-made packaging and closure combinations are also available separately. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation before filling a larger batch.
