Product description
The glass nasal spray bottle is a ready-made set consisting of a small green bottle with a nominal volume of 10 ml and a white pump dispenser with fine misting and a narrow elongated nozzle. It is suitable for small volumes of thin aqueous and alcoholic preparations intended to be applied as a fine mist in a repeatable dose – for example hydrosol sprays, refreshing face mists in travel size or aromatic sprays with a low content of essential oils.
Green glass reduces light transmission and thus helps protect light-sensitive contents – hydrosols, plant extracts or preparations with essential oils. Glass does not absorb odours or dyes, so the bottle can be reused after thorough washing. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, the declaration of conformity is included with the product. It is not intended for contact with food.
How the set dispenses
The dispenser screws onto the bottle and seals with a thread; the contents are drawn up through a dip tube from the bottom. Each press delivers a small, approximately equal dose (approximately 0.12 ml) and disperses it into a fine mist, so a single bottle yields several dozen doses. The narrow nozzle allows precise application to a small area without the preparation spraying around.
Before first use, the pump should be pressed several times empty until the dip tube fills and the mist begins to come out evenly. The dispenser works reliably in an upright position; when spraying with the bottom facing up, it draws in air.
The dispenser tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before assembling the set, trim it so that it ends just above the bottom, ideally with an angled cut – the pump will then draw up even the last remnants of the contents.
Suitable for products such as
- Hydrosol sprays – thin aqueous preparations applied as a fine mist to the face or skin; the green glass also protects the hydrosol from light.
- Travel face mists – the small volume and glass bottle are suitable for handbag packaging of a toner or refreshing mist.
- Aromatic sprays – alcoholic or solubilised aqueous sprays with essential oils for fabric, pillow or room use.
- Scalp sprays – the narrow nozzle allows thin tonic to be applied precisely to the scalp without wetting the entire hair.
- Samples and test batches – the 10 ml volume is practical for testing spray formula behaviour before larger production.
The set is offered as packaging for cosmetics. Preparations intended for application into the nasal cavity (such as saline solutions) generally do not fall under cosmetic products but under medical devices or medicinal products with their own requirements for packaging, manufacturing and placing on the market. The classification of such a product must be assessed in advance.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended for normal filling. The total volume to the rim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the dispenser, which take up some space after screwing on, and for the expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim – otherwise the contents will overflow when the dispenser is fitted and the thread will not seal properly. Both values are stated in the parameters.
What is good to know before filling
Wash the bottle and dispenser before first filling and at every reuse, disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely. Dried residues in the nozzle are the most common cause of blockage.
The dispenser is intended for thin liquids – water, hydrosols, alcoholic solutions and solubilised sprays. Oils, thick serums and emulsions with higher viscosity will not form a mist; the pump pushes them out in drops or becomes blocked. If the formulation contains a thickener, test the spraying on a small trial.
The dispenser parts in contact with the contents are plastic and the spring is steel. For preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils, stronger solvents or with a low pH, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the set in the finished formulation – after a few weeks, check the seal integrity, the colour of the contents and the nozzle flow. The glass itself is resistant to these contents.
Aqueous preparations in a spray require preservation just as in any other packaging. The pump does reduce direct hand contact with the contents, but air is drawn into the bottle during pumping. Fill the contents when cooled, not hot.
When recycling, the bottle goes into glass waste; the dispenser is made of multiple materials, so separate it from the glass before disposal.
The bottle has a neck with the thread type stated in the parameters. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When using a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
