Yes, the glass container can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. However, before each new filling, the bottle and the cap must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, ideally using a suitable alcohol, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection you can use products available at Handymade, such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After cleaning, let all parts dry thoroughly and only then refill the container.
When recycling, it is important to follow the material indicated in the product parameters. The glass part of the bottle is usually sorted into the glass container after emptying and rinsing. The aluminum cap is generally intended to be sorted with metals or into metal packaging collection according to the local collection system. Before sorting, we recommend checking the parameter table for the specific product on Handymade, where recycling recommendations are given for the relevant packaging type. If possible, separate the glass from the metal cap so that they can be processed in the appropriate fractions.
In practice, green glass is often used specifically for products containing vegetable oils, extracts and aromatic components, since it helps limit the undesirable effect of light on the contents. For long-term storage of formulations that are sensitive to heat and light, however, it is important to combine a suitable container with correct storage conditions – storage in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight is recommended.
