This type of packaging is intended primarily for products that are to be dispensed in the form of a fine foam. These are mainly foaming facial and body cleansers, liquid soaps, shaving foams and special cleansing and hygiene solutions. It is important that the formulation has a suitable viscosity for the foaming pump and does not clog its mechanism. Before serial filling, we always recommend testing the foamability and dispensing on a small trial batch.

The packaging can be reused if basic hygiene principles and appropriate handling are followed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, ideally using high-percentage alcohols such as isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection, we recommend products available on Handymade – for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After cleaning, allow all parts to dry completely so that dilution or influence on your formulation does not occur.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend disposing of it in the most environmentally friendly way possible. First, use up the contents or rinse out the remaining product as much as possible. Then separate the bottle and the foaming pump into individual parts according to the material specified in the parameter table for the product (for example, the bottle body and the pump mechanism may be made of different plastics). Plastic parts are sorted into containers intended for plastics according to local waste collection rules. Metal springs or mixed parts that cannot be separated should be disposed of according to the recommendations of the local municipal waste collection. Always follow the recycling symbols given for the product and the recommendations of your local recycling centre or municipality.

For the proper function of the foaming pump, a suitable formula is important – as a rule, these are rather thin, watery or lightly gel-like formulations with surfactants that create a stable foam. Excessively thick gels, a high proportion of insoluble particles or plant powders may clog the mechanism. It is recommended to prepare a trial batch, fill a smaller quantity into the bottle and test the dispensing, foam consistency and stability during repeated use. Also ensure that the pump is screwed on evenly and that the seal sits correctly on the neck of the bottle.
