Preservatives are substances that help extend the shelf life of your cosmetic products. They combat bacteria, yeasts, fungi and mould in cosmetics by being able to stop their proliferation for a certain period of time. They are needed everywhere you add water to the products. However, these properties predestine them to be poisonous or toxic in their pure form; their dosage in cosmetic products is minimal.

Iscaguard IAF is an aqueous blend of naturally derived fruit acids, suitable for the preservation of rinse-off and leave-on products. It has a broad-spectrum effect against bacteria, yeasts and moulds. This preservative contains naturally sourced, GMO-free propanediol, which increases the efficacy of the preservative and provides better skin hydration. Iscaguard IAF is a perfect choice when formulating skin-friendly products.

We recommend it for formulating shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, facial products including the eye and lip area, as well as products for children.

Add it to formulas during the cooling phase and mix thoroughly (longer than other preservatives) to make sure it has dissolved well.

It is fully soluble in water and glycols.

Do not heat above 80°C.

The pH of the final product should be between 2 - 5.5; at a pH approaching 7 it loses its efficacy.

Recommended dosage: 0.5 - 1.5 %

All supplied raw materials are of cosmetic grade, not suitable for internal use. Use appropriate protective equipment when handling.
