Coco Betaine is an amphoteric tenside (betaine) derived from the fatty acids of coconut oil. It is produced by synthesis from coconut fatty raw materials - first amidoamine is prepared from coconut fatty acid, followed by a betaine reaction to form a stable amphoteric structure. In practice, it serves as a secondary tenside: it refines the wash profile, increases creaminess and foam stability, and improves the tolerability of formulations with anionic tensides. Compared to Cocamidopropyl Betaine, it is a related betaine raw material that is used very similarly - often in shampoos, shower gels, facial cleansing gels and products for more sensitive skin.It is most commonly supplied as an aqueous solution, so the dosage is adjusted according to the target proportion of active tensides in the finished product.
They are related amphoteric betaines. In practice, they are used very similarly (foaming, softening, compatibility) but may differ in chain composition, delivery viscosity and behavior in a particular formulation. It is recommended to do a small viscosity and clarity test when confusing them.
Yes, it is often used just to soften anionic systems (e.g. in shampoos and shower gels). It gives the best result when combined with appropriate pH, humectants and milder co-tensides.
Tenside systems often have a maximum viscosity at a certain salt concentration. If you exceed it, the micellar structure changes and the viscosity decreases. Add salt gradually and always after complete mixing.
Yes, in practice it is also used in slightly acidic washing products. However, stability, clarity and viscosity depend on the whole tenside mixture and perfuming, so fine-tune the pH at the end and do stability tests.
Stir slowly, keep the stirrer below the surface, add tensides to the water and do not use unnecessarily high speeds. When finished, let the product stand to allow bubbles to come out naturally.
