Corn starch is a very fine white powder that is used in various types of cosmetic products. It is used mainly for its ability to bind grease and oil, to soften the skin, or to thicken the final product.

It is a basic raw material for the production of most fizzy bath bombs, where it helps bind oil and create a compact and firm mixture that keeps its shape well. You can find it in dry shampoos, because it binds grease. For the same reasons it is used in various body powders and powder facial cleansers. It is also added to whipped body butters to reduce the greasy feel on the skin, and it is also used in deodorants.

You will also appreciate it when making various types of decorative cosmetics, because due to its properties corn starch is used as an alternative to talc. At the same time, corn starch has mattifying effects and is also used to soothe irritated skin.

Corn starch is well compatible with most cosmetic raw materials, especially in powder and solid products. It is opaque. It is recommended to store it in a closed container, away from moisture. Corn starch is insoluble in water, but it is miscible with it and swells in water.

The recommended dosage is:

*     Body powder – 85-95 %

*     Mineral eye make-up – 5-15 %

*     Pressed face powder – 5-15 %

*     Thickening of products – up to 2 %
