Product description

The matte glass jar is a professional container suitable for various cosmetic preparations, balms and concentrated products where aesthetics, stability and protection of the contents are important. Thanks to the high-quality glass, the jar is suitable for filling thicker as well as semi-liquid formulations that require reliable protection against external influences and convenient dispensing with fingers or a spatula.

This packaging is complemented by a sealing inner lid and top closure, which reduce the risk of unwanted product leakage and help maintain the texture, fragrance and stability of the formulation. The matte glass gives the packaging a premium look and is ideal for brands that place emphasis on visual presentation, a professional appearance and the reusability of the container.

Possible uses

  • face and body creams, butters, lip balms and concentrated ointments
  • cleansing balms, scrubs, masks and solid or semi-solid cosmetic products
  • aromatherapeutic balms, herbal blends in an ointment base and topical preparations
  • gels, hair styling products and special treatment preparations
  • small samples or limited editions of handmade cosmetics for both professional and hobby use

Advantages of the packaging

  • Material stability – glass is a chemically stable material suitable for a wide range of cosmetic formulations, including preparations containing essential oils or active ingredients.
  • Protection of the contents – the high-quality design and the lid with inner sealing help minimise the product’s contact with air and contaminants during storage and use.
  • Attractive matte appearance – matte glass has a premium look, is suitable for branded as well as artisan products and supports the perception of the quality of the finished cosmetic.
  • Universal use in cosmetics – the jar is suitable for a wide portfolio of products from facial care to body butters, thereby simplifying the unification of your packaging.
  • Possibility of reuse – with proper hygiene and care, the glass jar can be reused long-term.

Combining with closures and dispensers

This jar forms an integrated combination of glass container and lid, which is designed to be functional, sealing and suitable for repeated opening and closing. The packaging and closure combinations that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test (sealing, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation).

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are given in the attached packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this glass jar also suitable for preparations containing essential oils?

The glass jar is in general very well tolerated even by formulations containing essential oils or fragrance compositions. Nevertheless, for each new product we recommend preparing a test batch and monitoring the behaviour of the formulation in contact with the packaging (stability of scent, colour and texture) over several days to weeks, so that you can be sure of long-term compatibility.

Can I reuse the jar after the original product has been used up?

Yes, the jar can be reused if hygienic principles are followed. Before each new filling, the container must be thoroughly cleaned, any residues of the previous formulation removed and then disinfected with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection you can use the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after the container is completely dry do we recommend proceeding with refilling.

How should I properly clean the glass jar before refilling?

First clean the jar mechanically – remove all residues of the original product using a spatula and warm water with a mild detergent. After thoroughly rinsing, let the container dry, ideally upside down on a clean absorbent surface. We then recommend disinfecting with a suitable alcohol-based product (for example IPA or ethanol) and allowing the container to dry completely at room temperature. Only then is the jar ready for refilling.

How can I safely dispose of or recycle this packaging if I no longer want to use it?

If you decide not to use the jar further, we recommend recycling it responsibly in accordance with local waste-sorting regulations. After emptying, place the glass container in the bin designated for glass; sort the lid and any plastic inserts according to the material specified in the product parameters on the website. Before throwing it into sorted waste, it is advisable to remove any large product residues from the container to make the recycling process easier.

You offer many types of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

To select a suitable container you can use the advanced filter, which appears at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant category (for example bottles, jars or other packaging). In the advanced filter you can clearly select according to parameters such as type of neck, size, colour or packaging material. This allows you to quickly find the combination of container and closure that will best suit your specific product and dispensing method.
