Product description
A clear 150 ml PET bottle and a clear flip top cap with a 24/410 neck finish make up a ready-to-use set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed straight from the bottle. The cap opens with one finger and snaps shut when pressed, so it is easy to handle even with wet hands in the shower or at the sink. The clear material shows the contents and how much is left, which is useful for coloured gels, shampoos and toners.
PET is lightweight and, unlike glass, does not break when dropped, so the bottle withstands ordinary drops in the bathroom as well as transport in a travel bag. The 150 ml size suits shampoos, shower gels, conditioners, body lotions, facial toners, micellar waters or massage oils in smaller packs, trial samples for testing a formulation, and travel products. Both components of the set are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.
What the set is suitable for
- Rinse-off shower products – shampoos, shower gels and conditioners. The dose is squeezed out in one movement without unscrewing the cap.
- Facial toners and lotions – the liquid is applied drop by drop through the opening in the flip top onto a cotton pad or into the palm.
- Body lotions and light creams – with a thinner consistency, it is enough to tilt the bottle and squeeze gently. Thicker creams flow more slowly, so test them beforehand.
- Massage and body oils – the opening in the flip top dispenses the oil in smaller amounts and limits spillage compared with an open neck.
- Travel and sample packs – the bottle weighs little, does not break and still lasts for several weeks of use.
Nominal volume and total volume
The nominal volume of 150 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume, that is, the physical volume up to the neck, is higher and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the cap, the layer of air above the contents and any expansion of the filling when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume. If it were filled to the brim, the contents would be pushed out through the neck when closing, and the flip top would release a larger dose than you need when the bottle is squeezed.
Use in practice
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap in warm water with a cleaning product, rinse them and disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Let both parts dry completely before filling, as residual water would dilute the contents and reduce the effectiveness of the preservation. The same procedure applies when reusing the bottle. Unscrew the cap and also rinse the opening in the flip top, where product residues collect.
Do not fill the PET bottle with hot contents. Let emulsions, gels and infusions cool to room temperature before filling. Heat deforms the material and changes both its shape and the tightness at the neck.
If you are using your own formulation, we recommend filling one bottle before a larger batch and observing for several days whether the product leaks when the bottle is laid on its side, whether the flip top stays closed and whether the material turns cloudy. This applies especially to formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, which stress plastic more than water and oil bases do.
Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Formulations sensitive to light, for example those with vitamin C or retinol, belong in amber or blue glass. This bottle works well for stable rinse-off products and for products that are used up within weeks.
Good to know
The PP cap seals on the 24/410 neck finish when tightened by hand, and excessive tightening is not necessary when closing. You will find closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made packaging and closure combinations, in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The set is not approved for contact with food and is intended for cosmetic and technical use. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene. Both materials are recyclable, and the cap is separated from the bottle when sorting.
