Product description
The white 150 ml plastic bottle with a black mini trigger sprayer is a ready-made set for toners, hydrolates and other thin preparations applied as a spray to the skin, hair or a room. The bottle is made of PET, weighs little and does not break when dropped, so it holds up in the bathroom, in a handbag and while travelling. The black sprayer with a smooth collar gives the packaging a simple, clean look.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the sprayer does not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products.
What it is suitable for
- Facial toners and hydrolates – watery liquids that the sprayer disperses into a fine mist without your hands touching the contents.
- Refreshing face and body sprays – including preparations with glycerine or with solubilised essential oils.
- Sprays for hair – leave-in conditioner sprays, shine sprays or sea salt sprays, as long as their consistency is close to water.
- Home and textile fragrances – water-based or alcohol-based, where a shatterproof bottle is particularly useful.
How the set works
The mini trigger sprayer draws the contents up through a dip tube from the bottom of the bottle and releases approximately 0.2 ml of liquid with each press. At full volume this corresponds to about 750 presses, which helps when estimating consumption and when calculating how much active ingredient reaches the skin in a single application. After first fitting, prime the sprayer by pressing it several times until the dip tube and nozzle fill with liquid.
It works best with liquids with a viscosity close to water. Thick emulsions, gels or preparations with a higher proportion of oil may come out as a stream instead of a mist or may clog the nozzle. For such formulations, we recommend testing the behaviour on a small sample.
The dip tube of the sprayer is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting, shorten it with sharp scissors so that it reaches just to the bottom and does not bend. A dip tube that is too long kinks inside the bottle and the sprayer does not draw liquid.
Nominal volume and filling
The value of 150 ml is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is larger. The difference provides room for the dip tube and the submerged part of the sprayer, for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes, and for the air the sprayer needs to draw liquid correctly. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is screwed on.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Rinse the dip tube with alcohol and spray the alcohol through several times so that the disinfectant also reaches the nozzle.
- Temperature of the contents – fill PET bottles with a preparation that has cooled down. A hot liquid can deform the wall of the bottle.
- Material resistance – neither the bottle nor the sprayer is intended for aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils, volatile oils or solvents, we recommend checking beforehand that the plastic does not soften and that the sprayer seal holds.
- Reuse – the set can be refilled after washing and disinfection. When switching to a different formulation, rinse the dip tube and nozzle thoroughly, as residues of the previous contents cling to them the longest.
- Preservation of the contents – the sprayer limits contact between the contents and fingers, but air enters the bottle with each press. Water-based preparations therefore need a preservative just as in open packaging.
- Recycling – the bottle is PET and the sprayer is PP. Separate them before disposal and sort each part according to its material.
Closures with the same neck type, as listed in the parameters, as well as other ready-made packaging and closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you are combining parts yourself, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
After filling, leave the bottle with the sprayer lying on a paper towel for a while and check that the thread seals. Leaks most often appear only during transport in a handbag or luggage.
