Before each new filling, it is necessary to clean the packaging thoroughly and disinfect it, ideally using high-purity alcohol, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol or etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný. After disinfection, allow the container and closure to dry completely in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination and impact on the stability of the new formulation.

To extend the service life of the packaging, we recommend cleaning the bottle manually with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, without aggressive chemicals and without rough sponges that could scratch the surface. The material is not intended to be exposed to high temperatures – there is a risk of deformation of the packaging, therefore do not wash the bottle in a dishwasher and do not boil it. After washing and disinfection, it is important to let the container dry sufficiently at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, in order to prevent undesirable changes in the shape or properties of the plastic.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it responsibly according to the type of material indicated in the parameter table for the product. Before handing it over to sorted collection, it is advisable to empty the bottle, if necessary rinse out any residue, and separate the closure if it is made of a different material than the body of the packaging. A container prepared in this way should go to the appropriate bin intended for that particular type of plastic. By recycling, you reduce the amount of waste and enable the material to be processed again into new products.

For formulations with a higher proportion of alcohol, essential oils or other active substances, we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test, directly with the specific composition and the chosen closure or dispenser. Monitor in particular the tightness of the closure, the behaviour of the material during long-term contact with the given mixture (potential softening or discolouration) and the stability of the fragrance or texture. Combinations of packaging and closures offered on Handymade are tested and functional under standard conditions, however individual formulations may behave differently, therefore trial filling is always a sensible step.
