FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

Is this plastic bottle suitable for repeated use?

The packaging can be reused if basic hygiene rules are followed. Before each new filling, the bottle and the dispenser must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, ideally using a suitable alcohol, for example isopropyl alcohol or 96% ethanol, denatured, plant-based. Only after the packaging has completely dried do we recommend refilling it, in order to minimize the risk of microbial contamination of the product.

How can I clean this bottle properly and what should I watch out for with the plastic material?

When cleaning the plastic bottle, we recommend using lukewarm water and a suitable detergent, then rinsing the packaging thoroughly and allowing it to dry. PET and other common plastic materials are not suitable for exposure to high temperatures – therefore, when washing, do not use boiling water, do not boil them and do not put them in a dishwasher, in order to avoid deformation of the packaging or damage to the surface. After mechanical cleaning, it is advisable to carry out a final disinfection with a suitable alcohol and allow the packaging to dry completely before refilling.

How can I safely dispose of and recycle this plastic bottle if I do not want to use it further?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material specified in the parameters of the specific product on the Handymade website. First remove any product residues, rinse the bottle and then sort it into the appropriate container according to the material marking on the packaging or in the parameter table (for example, a plastic container for PET or other plastics). In this way, the most efficient possible reprocessing of the material is ensured, in accordance with local recycling rules.

Is the dispenser also suitable for more viscous products such as emulsions or light creams?

The dispenser is designed to handle common liquid and mildly viscous formulations such as body milks, lighter emulsions, gels and cleansing products. However, for very thick creams the dispensing may be limited, so we always recommend carrying out your own test with the specific formula. In particular, check the smoothness of dispensing, the return of the spring and the tightness of the system during longer-term use.
