Yes, with appropriate handling the packaging can be used repeatedly, but we recommend reserving it always for a similar type of product (for example permanently for cosmetic sprays). Before each new filling it is essential to thoroughly clean and disinfect the medicine bottle including the spray pump, in order to reduce the risk of microbial contamination. For disinfection, preparations based on alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol or ethanol are suitable, for example, available in our range: IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured, plant-based. After disinfection, allow all parts to dry thoroughly and only then refill the packaging.

Before cleaning, we recommend completely emptying the packaging and disassembling it – separating the bottle, spray pump and cap. You can rinse the container with lukewarm water and a mild cleaning agent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water and finally disinfect it using alcohol, for example with the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured, plant-based. We recommend pumping the spray pump through with clean water and then with a small amount of disinfectant alcohol. After treatment, allow all parts to dry naturally at room temperature.

If you decide not to use the packaging any further, we recommend giving priority to recycling it, in accordance with the recommendation given in the product parameters for this packaging. After emptying the bottle, remove any residue of the contents and, if necessary, rinse it. Then sort the packaging into the appropriate container according to the recycling symbol and the type of plastic given in the product parameter table on the Handymade website. The spray pump and the bottle may be made from different plastic components, therefore we recommend always sorting them according to local waste sorting rules. In case of doubt, it is advisable to consult the waste collection service provider in your area.

Many formulations containing alcohol or essential oils can be filled into plastic packaging, but their suitability always depends on the specific composition. We therefore recommend, before filling a larger quantity, to carry out your own compatibility test – fill a smaller volume of the product, observe the behaviour of the material (colour change, softening, deformation) and verify the functionality of the spray pump during longer use. If you are working with a high proportion of alcohol or with concentrated essential oils, it is advisable to choose a shortened storage period and to regularly check the condition of the packaging and of the spray mechanism.
