Yes, the glass jar can be reused if proper hygiene procedures are followed. Before each new filling, the container needs to be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection we recommend the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after it is completely dry is the jar ready for refilling, which reduces the risk of microbial contamination and impact on the stability of your product.
Before first use, we recommend mechanically removing any dust from the jar, washing it with warm water and a suitable detergent, and rinsing thoroughly. After washing, allow the glass container and the lid to dry completely. Then spray or wipe the surfaces that will be in contact with the product with disinfectant alcohol, for example IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based, and let it air off. In this way you will prepare a hygienically clean container for filling with your own formulations.
The glass jar is also suitable for packaging rich balms, butters and ointments with a higher proportion of oils and waxes. Glass is generally resistant to common cosmetic oils and fats, which helps protect formula stability and minimise the risk of affecting fragrance or colour. However, during production we recommend performing a compatibility test – fill a smaller amount of product and monitor its behaviour during storage so that you can be sure the chosen container is suitable for the specific composition.
If you decide not to reuse the jar, we recommend placing it, after thorough emptying and cleaning, into the appropriate recycling stream according to the material specified in the product specifications. The glass container can usually be sorted into the glass recycling bin, while the closure is sorted according to its material (for example, a metal or plastic lid into the corresponding fraction). Before handing it over for recycling, remove product residues to support efficient processing of the packaging material and to reduce the amount of waste.
