Product description

Sea buckthorn pulp CO₂-to extract BIO is a nutritious oil extract obtained from the dried pulp of Hippophae rhamnoides fruits by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. This modern, extremely gentle process is carried out without the use of chemical solvents and preserves the full spectrum of bioactive components of sea buckthorn. The extract has an orange-red colour, a characteristic fruity aroma and an oily consistency. It is stabilized with a small amount of organic rosemary antioxidant to increase shelf life. It is a CO₂-to (total extract), which contains all the lipid components of sea buckthorn pulp, including fatty acids, sterols, tocopherols and carotenoids.

Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (CO₂)
Designation: CO₂-to - total extract (complete extract with all lipid components)
D/E ratio: 8-14 kg of dried sea buckthorn pulp per 1 kg of extract
Ingredients: 99.9% CO₂ extract from sea buckthorn fruit pulp (BIO), 0.1% rosemary antioxidant (BIO)

Key benefits

  • Promotes regeneration and healing - helps to rebuild damaged epidermis, reduce scarring and improve the appearance of the skin.
  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action - protects the skin from oxidative stress, irritation and aging.
  • Moisturizing effect - unsaturated fatty acids increase skin moisture and elasticity.
  • Hair care - strengthens hair fibres and restores their shine, suitable for regenerating shampoos and masks.

Cosmetic use

In cosmetics, sea buckthorn extract is highly valued for its content of the rarely found palmitoleic acid (omega-7), which is a natural part of the skin's lipid layer. It promotes cell regeneration in the epidermis, accelerates the healing of minor wounds and helps minimize scarring. Other unsaturated fatty acids (especially linoleic and α-linolenic) improve skin hydration and strengthen the skin's barrier function. Antioxidant ingredients such as carotenoids, tocopherols and sterols slow down ageing and protect against UV damage. The extract is therefore ideal for anti-age products, nourishing care for dry or sensitive skin, products against skin imperfections, as well as sunscreen and after-sun cosmetics. In hair care, it regenerates hair fibres, strengthens them and improves shine, which is why it is used in shampoos, conditioners and masks designed to restore damaged hair.

Safety and storage

For external use only. Store in a cool, dry and dark place, tightly closed and out of reach of children. Warm to 40 °C and shake before use. It is recommended to store in dark containers to preserve the stability of carotenoids and fatty acids.

FAQ

What are the main active ingredients of sea buckthorn pulp extract?

The extract contains 30-40% palmitic acid, 22-40% palmitoleic acid (omega-7) and 1-7% insoluble substances such as carotenoids, tocopherols, sterols and alkanols. These substances provide its regenerating, antioxidant and moisturising action.

What type of skin is sea buckthorn extract best suited for?

It is suitable for dry, sensitive, chapped or mature skin. It promotes cell renewal, improves elasticity and helps prevent moisture loss.

Can it also be used in hair cosmetics?

Yes, sea buckthorn pulp extract is used in products to restore damaged hair. It strengthens hair fibres, improves shine and nourishes the scalp.

What does "CO₂-to" mean?

CO₂-to stands for total extract - a complete CO₂ extract that contains the full spectrum of the plant's lipid components, including waxes and antioxidants. This type of extract is more nutritious and stable than "selective" (CO₂-se) extracts, which contain only volatile substances.
