Sea buckthorn fruit CO₂-to extract BIO is a nutritious plant oil extract obtained from the dried fruits of Hippophae rhamnoides using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. This gentle process is carried out without the use of chemical solvents and preserves the full spectrum of bioactive components - from unsaturated fatty acids to carotenoids, tocopherols and phytosterols. It has an orange-red colour, a delicate fruity aroma and an oily consistency. The extract is stabilized with an organic rosemary antioxidant that protects its sensitive components from oxidation. It is a CO₂-to (total extract) - a complete extract that contains all the lipid components of sea buckthorn, including fatty acids, waxes and natural antioxidants.

• Solubility: Oil phase
• Recommended dosage: 1 - 10%

• Handling: Warm to approx. 40 °C before use and shake well to restore an even consistency.

Cosmetic use

Sea buckthorn extract has an extremely wide range of applications in cosmetics. It contains the rarely found palmitoleic acid (omega-7), which is a natural component of sebum. This fatty acid stimulates regenerative processes in the epidermis, promotes the healing of minor injuries and helps to minimise the appearance of scars. Other unsaturated fatty acids (especially linoleic and α-linolenic) increase skin hydration, while carotenoids and tocopherols provide strong antioxidant protection. Sea buckthorn extract is therefore excellent in anti-age products, nourishing care for dry, chapped or sensitive skin and in products against skin imperfections. It also has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects, which make it useful in sun protection and regeneration (after-sun) cosmetics. In hair care, it strengthens hair fibres, restores damaged ends and improves shine, which is why it is added to shampoos, conditioners and nourishing masks.

Safety and storage

For external use only. Store in a cool, dry and dark place, well sealed and out of reach of children. Warm to 40 °C and shake before use. It is recommended to store in dark containers to preserve the stability of carotenoids and fatty acids.
