Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions. The total capacity to the brim is slightly larger and extends up to the neck. The difference between the two is a headspace for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled completely, the contents press against the sealing insert when closing and may leak when heated.

What is worth knowing

Before the first fill, we recommend washing and sanitising the bottle and cap with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. PET does not tolerate high temperatures, so do not fill the container with a hot phase and do not boil it. Fill only after the contents have cooled to room temperature or are slightly warm.

Clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. Preparations containing unstable ingredients, such as oils prone to oxidation, vitamin C or certain plant extracts, are better filled into dark glass or stored in the dark. For tonics, micellar waters, liquid soaps and standard body oils, clear PET is adequate.

The bottle can be reused. When changing the type of contents, especially after oils or fragrances, bear in mind that the plastic may retain odour. The sealing insert in the cap compresses over time; with intensive use, it is advisable to replace the cap.

The cylindrical shape without embossing facilitates labelling; the label applies flat and does not ripple. Both the PET bottle and the polypropylene cap belong in plastic recycling; empty the container before disposal.
