Glass vials are generally very well tolerated even for formulations containing essential oils, since glass is chemically stable and does not react with most common cosmetic ingredients. Nevertheless, for every new formula we recommend performing your own compatibility test – filling a small test batch of the product and monitoring the behaviour of the packaging, sealing and dosing over time and under different temperature conditions. This way you can be certain that the bottle and dispenser will work long-term without problems with your specific product.

The packaging can be used repeatedly if strict hygiene rules are observed, especially for home-made or small-scale production. Before each refilling, the bottle and dispenser must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed with suitable water and then disinfected. For disinfection we recommend using, for example, isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, which you can find in the offer as products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After disinfection, allow the packaging to dry completely at room temperature. For professional cosmetic use, always also take into account the requirements for GMP, batch traceability and internal hygiene procedures.

If you decide not to use the packaging further, we recommend recycling it according to the material types listed in the product parameters. After cleaning, the glass bottle can generally be placed in a container designated for glass, while the plastic or metal parts of the dispenser should be sorted according to the type of material (for example mixed plastic waste or metal). When recycling, it is important to remove product residues so that the recycling stream is not degraded. Detailed information on the material composition can be found in the “material” parameter for the specific product, and based on this you should choose the method of sorting in accordance with the rules in your municipality.

The glass bottle with dispenser is also suitable for carrying in a handbag or when travelling, provided it is properly closed and stored in such a way as to avoid impacts or falls. We recommend checking that the dispenser is firmly screwed on and, when carrying, placing the bottle in a case or separate compartment to minimise mechanical stress on the glass. For air transport or transport in luggage, always also consider volume limits and rules for liquids.
