FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this glass bottle also suitable for products containing alcohol or essential oils?

Glass is generally a very stable and resistant material, therefore this bottle is also suitable for formulations containing alcohol or essential oils, provided they are intended for external use. However, we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – checking the behaviour of the finished formulation in contact with the glass and the spray pump (plastic and rubber parts of the mechanism) in order to confirm long-term functionality, sealing and consistent dosing.

Can I reuse this bottle for different products?

The bottle can be reused, provided that basic hygiene principles are observed and the type of contents remains compatible with the packaging material. Before each refilling, the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, ideally using a suitable alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection you can use products available on Handymade, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. This minimizes the risk of microbial contamination and transfer of fragrance or colour from the previous fill.

How should I properly clean the glass bottle and spray pump before reuse?

Before reuse we recommend disassembling the bottle, rinsing it with warm water and a mild detergent, rinsing thoroughly and allowing it to dry completely. Then apply disinfection with a suitable alcohol – for example with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For the spray pump it is advisable to repeatedly spray clean water through it and then a small amount of alcohol, in order to clean the internal capillary and nozzle. After complete drying, the packaging can be safely refilled.

How can I dispose of or recycle this packaging in an eco-friendly way if I no longer wish to use it?

If you decide not to use the bottle any longer, we recommend recycling it according to the types of materials specified in the product parameters. The glass body should normally go into the container intended for glass; it is advisable to empty it and remove any product residues before disposal. The plastic spray pump (including the tube and any rubber parts) is sorted according to local rules for plastic waste, or disposed of in mixed waste if the local collection system does not allow other options. By recycling you reduce the amount of waste and support repeated use of raw materials.
