Glass packaging is generally stable against common cosmetic solvents and is therefore often used for formulations containing alcohol or essential oils as well. For every new formula, however, we recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – leave the filled bottle to stand for a certain time, check the functionality of the spray pump, any changes in the appearance or odour of the product, and only then use the packaging in routine mode.

The packaging can be reused if hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling, it is important to thoroughly clean and disinfect both the bottle and the spray pump. We recommend first mechanically rinsing out residual product and then performing chemical disinfection with a suitable alcohol, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured, plant-based. After disinfection, allow all components to dry completely on a clean, uncontaminated surface and only then reuse the packaging.

Spray quality depends on the viscosity and composition of the product. To achieve a fine mist, we recommend formulations with lower viscosity and without large undissolved particles. Always filter the mixture before filling (for example through a fine sieve or filter paper) to prevent nozzle clogging. After the first filling, perform several test actuations, check the shape and consistency of the spray pattern and, if necessary, adjust the formula (ratio of water, hydrolats or solvents) so that the packaging dispenses the contents evenly.

We recommend storing filled bottles in a dry, clean environment, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Although the matte dark glass helps protect the contents from light, to maintain the quality of sensitive components it is advisable to combine it with an appropriate temperature and limited fluctuation of conditions. Always ensure that the overcap is firmly in place, the spray pump is not subjected to mechanical stress and the packaging is not exposed to impacts that could damage the glass.

If you decide not to reuse the bottle and the spray pump, we recommend recycling them according to the material types specified in the product parameters. The glass part of the packaging, after being emptied and basically rinsed, is usually placed in the glass container, while the plastic and any metal components of the spray pump belong in the appropriate collection bins according to local waste sorting. Before handing the packaging over for recycling, remove any product residues in order to simplify processing and reduce the risk of contamination in the recycling process.
