Glass bottle – medicine bottle represents a reliable packaging for professional and home formulations where protection of active ingredients, content stability and easy dosing are important. Thanks to high‑quality glass, the bottle is suitable for packaging liquid and low‑viscosity products that require precise application, secure closure and an aesthetic, clean appearance of the final product. The packaging is ideal for small batches, test batches and final retail packs.
Yes, the glass medicine bottle can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination and deterioration of the product. For disinfection, we recommend using a suitable alcohol‑based agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol in a quality grade intended for cosmetic preparation. On Handymade you will find, for example, the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant‑based, which are designed specifically for cleaning and disinfecting packaging before filling.
First, rinse the medicine bottle mechanically with warm water and a suitable mild detergent to remove residues of the original contents. Then rinse it thoroughly with clean water, ideally distilled, so that no deposits remain. After drying, the packaging must be disinfected with alcohol – we recommend applying, for example, IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant‑based, allowing it to act and then ventilating well. For sensitive formulations it is advisable to have a separate, clearly labelled container for each product type.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it responsibly. The glass part can usually be disposed of in a container intended for glass, but always follow local waste‑sorting rules and the information about the material given in the product parameters. Before recycling, empty the bottle and ideally rinse it so that no significant product residues remain in the glassworks. The closure, any inserts or dosing parts are often made from a different material (for example plastic or a combination of materials), so sort them separately according to the labelling and the current collection options in your region.
Glass containers are generally very suitable for formulations containing essential oils, vegetable oils and alcohol‑based solutions, because glass is chemically stable and does not react with most of these components. However, it is important to choose a compatible closure or dosing component so that alcohol or strong aromatic substances do not gradually damage the sealing or plastic parts. Before placing the product on the market, we recommend performing your own stability test – fill the bottle with the final formulation, leave it for several weeks under the recommended storage conditions and regularly check the fragrance, colour, consistency and dosing performance.
To choose a suitable bottle or jar, you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on a specific packaging category. In the advanced filter, you can clearly combine several criteria – for example the type and size of the neck, the overall size of the pack, the colour and the material of the packaging. In this way, you can quickly select only those containers that correspond to your formulation, preferred design and technical requirements for filling and dosing. In case of any doubts, we recommend comparing several options and always performing a trial filling.
