The glass roll-on bottle is a practical packaging solution for precise application of liquid products directly to the skin. Thanks to the high-quality glass, it is suitable for filling more delicate formulations that require a stable environment and protection from external influences. The dark coloration of the glass also helps protect the contents from light exposure, which contributes to longer stability of fragrances, oils and active ingredients.
This type of bottle is ideal for roll-on application – the ball ensures controlled dosing without unnecessary product waste and minimizes contact of the contents with air or hands. Thanks to this, the packaging is also suitable for formulations with a higher content of natural ingredients, which are more sensitive to the external environment.
The packaging can be safely reused if basic hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the bottle and the roll-on applicator, removing any residues of the original product, and then disinfecting the packaging with a suitable alcohol-based product. For disinfection it is possible to use isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, for example the products IPA 99 Isopropyl alkohol and Etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný, which you can find on the Handymade website (/ipa-99-isopropyl-alkohol-1-l/ and /etanol-96-denaturovany-rastlinny-1-l/, both opening in a new window using the setting target="_blank"). After disinfection, allow all parts to dry completely at room temperature and only then refill the bottle.
The glass roll-on bottle is most commonly used for oil-based and perfume formulations, aromatherapeutic blends, local serums and preparations intended for targeted application to smaller skin areas. It is particularly suitable for products where you need precise dosing in a thin layer without running and which benefit from the protective function of colored glass against light. We always recommend performing a trial filling to check the viscosity of the product and the smooth movement of the roll-on ball.
We recommend storing the filled bottle tightly closed, at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Dark glass in itself provides additional protection against light, but ideally the packaging should be kept in a cupboard or drawer. For formulations with a higher proportion of natural ingredients and essential oils, it is advisable to avoid extreme temperatures that may affect the viscosity, fragrance or colour of the product. When carrying the bottle, protect it from impacts to prevent damage to the glass or the applicator.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, it is appropriate to place it in sorted waste collection according to the material composition indicated in the parameter table for the product on the Handymade website. Before handing the glass bottle over for sorted collection, it is best to remove any remaining product and separate any plastic or metal parts (for example the roll-on ball, inner holder or cap), which are usually sorted into the appropriate container for plastics or metals according to local rules. Thanks to proper recycling, the material can be used again and the amount of waste is reduced.
The easiest way to choose a suitable packaging is to use the advanced filter in the packaging materials categories. After clicking on a specific category (for example bottles, vials, jars, etc.), you will find the advanced filter at the top of the page. Using the filter, you can clearly sort the packaging according to several parameters – especially neck type, size, colour and material. In this way, you can quickly display only those containers that meet your requirements for design, volume, closure method and use.
