Yes, the packaging can be reused if handled correctly and if there is no visible damage. When refilling, it is important to follow basic hygiene rules: before each new use, both the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol solution, for example using products such as IPA 99 % or plant-based ethanol. For disinfection you can use the products IPA 99 – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after thorough drying is the bottle ready to be refilled.

We recommend first rinsing the glass container with warm water and a suitable cleaning agent to remove residues of the original product. Then the bottle should be rinsed with clean water and left to drain. After mechanical cleaning, the packaging must be disinfected – for example by rinsing or spraying it with an alcohol-based solution such as IPA 99 or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. The spray head should be pressed several times so that the disinfectant solution passes through the whole mechanism. Before refilling, let all parts dry completely.

If the spray pump does not spray evenly, the most common reason is an overly viscous or improperly formulated product, or dried residues on the nozzle. We recommend first checking whether the nozzle is mechanically blocked and rinsing it with warm water or an alcohol solution. Then press it several times with clean water so that any deposits are released. For very viscous or highly oily preparations it may be necessary to choose a different type of dispensing; therefore, we always recommend testing the behaviour of the particular formulation in the selected packaging before final filling.

If you decide not to use the bottle any longer, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste separation rules and the information specified in the product parameters. The glass body of the bottle, after removing product residues and rinsing, is usually placed in the container intended for glass. The plastic spray head (including the tube) normally belongs in the container intended for plastic, unless local regulations specify otherwise. It is always advisable to separate the individual materials (glass and plastic) so that the packaging can be recycled efficiently and the environmental impact is reduced.
