The glass bottle can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the packaging from residues of the previous fill and then disinfect it with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after it is completely dry is the bottle ready for refilling. Always consider repeated use also with regard to the nature of the product and the required microbiological cleanliness.

When choosing a closure or dispenser, we recommend following the parameters given for the specific bottle and the combinations offered on the page. For drop serums and concentrated solutions, pipettes or droppers are practical, for toners and facial waters, screw caps or closures with a smaller opening, and for spray products, fine atomisers. All combinations of packaging and closures created directly on Handymade are tested, but for your own combinations it is always appropriate to carry out a sealing and dispensing test with your specific formulation.

After emptying the packaging, remove mechanical residues of the product, rinse the bottle with warm water and, depending on the type of formulation, use a suitable cleaning agent (for example dishwashing liquid for greasy oil blends). Then rinse the packaging thoroughly with clean water and let it dry. Before refilling, we recommend disinfecting the bottle with alcohol – products such as IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based are suitable. Allow the disinfectant solution to act, pour off the excess and let the packaging dry completely at room temperature.

If you decide not to reuse the bottle, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material stated in the product parameters. The glass part is usually, after cleaning, placed in sorted glass waste, while any plastic or metal closures are sorted according to the relevant material (plastic/metal). Before discarding, remove product residues and labels and do not unnecessarily burden the packaging with contamination so that it is suitable for further processing.
