Before each new filling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected, ideally using a suitable alcohol, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant‑based. How should the glass jar be properly cleaned before further use?

We recommend first mechanically cleaning the jar to remove product residues, then washing it with warm water and a suitable detergent and rinsing thoroughly. After drying, it is advisable to disinfect both the inner and outer surfaces with an alcohol‑based preparation, for example products available at Handymade, such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant‑based. Only after the alcohol has completely evaporated and the jar is fully dry may the packaging be refilled.

If you decide not to reuse the jar, we recommend recycling it in accordance with local waste‑sorting rules. The glass part of the packaging can usually, after cleaning, be sorted into a container designated for glass. The lid must be separated according to the material specified in the product specifications (for example into plastics or another corresponding fraction). Before placing it in the container, we recommend removing any product residues from the packaging so that recycling can proceed efficiently.
