Yes, the packaging can be reused if handled correctly and if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, we recommend thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting the bottle and spray pump to prevent microbial contamination of the new product. To disinfect the packaging, you can use, for example, isopropyl alcohol or ethanol available in our range: IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol or etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný. Only after the alcohol has completely dried and ventilated is the bottle ready for new filling.

You can wash the glass part of the packaging in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and leave to dry. We do not recommend soaking the spray pump in hot water so as not to damage the internal mechanism – it is more suitable to repeatedly spray clean water or alcohol through the mechanism until the liquid passing through is clear. After cleaning, we recommend disinfecting the internal surfaces of the bottle with alcohol, for example using IPA 99 % isopropyl alkoholu or etanolu 96 % denaturovaného rastlinného, and only then filling it again with a new product.

If you decide not to use the packaging anymore, we recommend recycling it responsibly according to the types of materials used, as indicated in the product parameters. As a rule, after emptying and roughly rinsing off product residues, the glass bottle can be disposed of in the container designated for glass, while the plastic spray pump (including the dip tube and any cap) belongs in the container for plastics. Before recycling, follow the local waste sorting rules and the information in the parameter table for the product on the Handymade website so that the recycling is as effective as possible.

The spray mechanism is ideal for low-viscosity liquids with a consistency similar to water or light solutions – for example hydrolats, facial and body toners, hair tonics, air fresheners or light perfume sprays. Thick emulsions, oil serums or gels may not pass optimally through the spray pump and can lead to clogging. For any new formulation, we always recommend carrying out a trial filling and testing whether the dosing is even and without dripping.

However, when carrying it, we always recommend checking that the spray pump is properly tightened and, in the case of transport in luggage, placing the packaging in a separate pocket or pouch so that it is protected against impacts and possible glass damage.
