SOLID LAVENDER CONDITIONER WITH PRESERVATIVE

And here we have another recipe where we'll talk about why it's good to use a natural preservative.

Stiff hair conditioner.
If you have long hair and are a lover of conditioners that make you not know the misery of uncombed hair, then read on.
Most of you are probably familiar with liquid conditioner

So why a solid conditioner?

We've already mentioned the benefits of this choice when it comes to solid shampoos:
- you are almost waste-free - conditioner doesn't need any plastic packaging,
- a great choice for traveling - the conditioner won't run out during any handling (probably everyone knows how they handle your luggage, especially in airports),
- you use as much as you need, whereas with a liquid product most of us tend to use more than we need - so you are more economical and the conditioner lasts longer.

Then again, why the natural preservative?

Solid conditioner, as you can see in the recipe below, is not water-based. It is the contact with water and a humid environment that creates the conditions for microorganisms to form. But you could only prevent contamination in this case by drying your product thoroughly after each use, and even that won't guarantee 100% protection. Many people do not add preservative to their products and store them in the refrigerator in order to prolong the shelf life of the product. But even in the refrigerator, you should keep your products for the same amount of time as, say, cream or mayonnaise, up to a maximum of 10 days. After this time, bacteria and mould can form even in a cold environment

And how to use a solid conditioner?

quite simply! Rub a stick through your hair and then try combing your hair. Gradually you will come to the right amount that is needed for your hair :-)

To prepare one larger solid stick we will need:
70 g BTMS
10 g cetyl alcohol
5 g cocoa butter
5 g coconut oil
2 g D-panthenol
2 g lavender essential oil (or your chosen combination of your favourite oils)
1 g Cosgard (or other natural preservative)
0.5 g Vitamin E
Silicone mould or other mould from which the conditioner can be easily removed once it has set.

The formula will thus be:
73.5% BTMS
10,5% cetyl alcohol
5,2% cocoa butter
5.2% coconut oil
2% D-panthenol
2% Lavender essential oil (or your choice of combination of your favourite oils)
1% Cosgard (or other natural preservative)
0.5% Vitamin E
Silicone mold or other mold from which the conditioner can be easily removed once set.

PROCEDURE:
1. weigh out the BTMS, cetyl alcohol, cocoa butter and coconut oil and melt them in a hot water bath. Mix the ingredients thoroughly.
2. Weigh the remaining ingredients in the recipe, remove the melted mixture from the heat source and add them to this mixture, mixing thoroughly.
3. Immediately after mixing, pour into the prepared silicone mould.
4. Leave to cool.
5. Once cooled, remove from the moulds and use immediately.
