The glass packaging is generally very stable and also suitable for formulations containing alcohol or essential oils. Nevertheless, we recommend performing a compatibility test for each new product – fill a smaller volume of the formulation, monitor the behaviour of the spray pump (dosing, evenness of the mist) and the condition of the seal over several days, so that you can be sure the packaging is fully suitable for the given product.

This packaging can be reused provided that basic hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, thoroughly rinse the bottle and the spray pump, remove any residues of the original product and then disinfect them with a suitable disinfectant. We particularly recommend using technical alcohol, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After disinfection, allow all parts to dry completely at room temperature and only then refill the packaging.

With thicker emulsions or oil blends, the flow rate of the spray pump may differ from that with classic watery solutions. We recommend always making a trial batch of the product, filling a smaller number of bottles and testing the spray – whether it is sufficiently fine, does not clog and delivers the required amount. If you plan to use a high proportion of oils or active ingredients, it is advisable to adjust the formulation and consistency so that it is fully compatible with the spray pump.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it in accordance with the recommendations given in the parameter table for the product on Handymade.sk. The glass part of the bottle, once any remaining contents have been removed, is generally placed in the container designated for glass, while the plastic spray pump (and any other plastic parts) belongs in the appropriate plastics container according to local waste sorting rules. Before recycling, it is advisable to rinse the packaging to minimise any residual product content. Always follow the pictograms and material markings specified for the particular product.
