Yes, the packaging can be used repeatedly if handled correctly and if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling it is necessary to thoroughly clean the bottle and the sprayer and then disinfect them with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection you can use the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After cleaning, let all parts dry completely in order to minimize the risk of microbial contamination of the new filling.
It is recommended to fill a smaller amount of the finished product into the bottle and leave it for a certain time under the same conditions in which it will be stored and used. Observe whether there are any changes in the colour or odour of the formulation, changes on the glass surface or damage to the sprayer (for example clogging, change in spray pattern). For products containing alcohol, acids or essential oils it is appropriate to test over a longer period. If necessary, you can also try another type of attachment from our range, whereby we recommend testing each variant separately.
You can rinse the glass part with warm water and a mild, suitable cleaning agent and then rinse thoroughly so that no detergent residues remain on the surface. After washing we recommend spraying or rinsing the inside and the neck of the bottle with disinfecting alcohol, for example with the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. It is advisable to disassemble the sprayer into accessible parts, rinse them with water and disinfectant solution and then let them dry completely. Only after all components are completely dry is the packaging ready for reuse.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend, after emptying and basic rinsing, placing it into separate collection according to the material composition specified in the product parameters. The glass part of the bottle is usually placed into the container intended for glass, while the plastic sprayer and any sealing elements belong in sorted plastics, unless your local collection rules state otherwise. Before disposal it is advisable to remove residues of cosmetics or other product from the packaging in order to facilitate subsequent processing. Always adapt the specific sorting method to the recommendations of your collection system and to the information in the parameter table at the product page on Handymade.
