Product description
The glass dropper bottle with a capacity of 30 ml is a ready-made combination for filling serums, facial oils, oil blends and active ingredient concentrates that are dispensed drop by drop. The white glass conceals the contents and limits the amount of light reaching them, which is useful for oils and active ingredients that lose their effect or change colour more quickly in light. The black dropper with a silicone bulb and a glass tube is matched to the bottle, so there is no need to choose a separate closure. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What it is suitable for
- Facial serums and oils – a volume of 30 ml matches normal consumption when a few drops are used daily, so the contents are used up before they begin to age.
- Active ingredient concentrates – water-based and oil-based concentrates that are added to a cream or serum drop by drop can be dispensed more precisely from a dropper than from a bottle with a cap.
- Fragrance blends and essences – for smaller quantities of essential oil blends, glass is more suitable than plastic because it does not react with the contents and does not absorb the scent.
- Alcohol-based extracts and tinctures for cosmetic use – glass withstands alcohol without any change, and the opaque wall protects the colour compounds in the extract from light.
- Samples and small batches – when testing a new formulation or handing out samples, a small volume is enough, and the dropper lets the customer try precise dispensing.
How to work with the set
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, that is, to 30 ml, not to the brim. The total brimful volume is larger and can be found in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces part of the contents when the bottle is closed, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled higher, the contents are pushed into the thread when the dropper is fitted and the closure stops sealing.
The length of the glass tube is matched to the height of the bottle, so the dropper draws up the contents even when the level is low. To dispense, squeeze the silicone bulb above the liquid level, immerse the tube and release slowly. The contents are then pressed out drop by drop directly onto the palm or into the prepared mixture. Thicker oils are drawn up more slowly. Water-based serums run out of the tube quickly, so hold it vertically after drawing up.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product is a source of microbial contamination.
The tamper-evident ring under the closure breaks off when the bottle is first opened. The customer can thus see that the bottle was not opened before them, and the remaining part of the closure continues to work as an ordinary threaded dropper.
Good to know
The bottle is intended for cosmetics. This set is not approved for food, so it is not suitable for homemade oils, syrups or extracts intended for consumption.
Both the glass and the silicone bulb withstand repeated use; the cleaning procedure can be found in the questions below. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking whether the bulb changes its elasticity during prolonged contact with the vapours.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes, so let a hot oil phase or a freshly heated extract cool down before filling. The glass tube of the dropper can break if it falls onto a hard floor, so do the filling and dispensing over a work surface.
The dropper is not an airtight closure. Water-based products without preservation will not last in it without microbial growth, even when stored in a cool place, so always preserve any water-based serum filled into this bottle.
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle and closure sets, can be found in the Handymade range. If you combine your own parts, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Once empty, the bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper consists of several materials, so separate the glass tube from the plastic part before disposal.
