Product description
The matte amber bottle with a black dropper is packaging for 30 ml of facial serums, facial oils and concentrated active ingredients that are dispensed drop by drop. Amber glass dampens light and helps protect contents that are sensitive to UV radiation, and the matte surface gives the packaging a uniform look. The dropper with a tamper-evident ring assures the customer that the bottle has not been opened before it reaches them. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
The bottle and the dropper are supplied as a matched set. The length of the dropper's glass tube corresponds to the height of the bottle, so the contents can be drawn almost from the very bottom.
What it is suitable for
- Facial and oil serums – the dropper measures out exactly the amount applied to the face, without unnecessary finger contact with the contents.
- Essential oil blends and fragrance blends – dispensing by the drop is the usual way of working with concentrated substances, and amber glass slows down changes in fragrance caused by light.
- Cosmetic tinctures and alcohol extracts – a volume of 30 ml is a common pack size for herbal extracts applied by the drop.
- Samples and trial batches – the small volume is suitable for testing a new recipe or for customer samples.
How the dropper works
The closure consists of a black screw-on head, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. With the packaging closed, squeeze and release the bulb and the tube fills. After unscrewing, the contents are dispensed in individual drops. The size of the drop depends on the thickness of the contents: oils form larger and slower drops, while alcohol tinctures drip faster.
The tamper-evident ring is connected to the dropper head by thin bridges. When first unscrewed, it separates and stays on the neck of the bottle, visibly signalling that the packaging has already been opened. Once the ring has separated, the dropper can still be used in the usual way, but it no longer performs its protective function.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 30 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is given in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes.
Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When screwing in the dropper for the first time, squeeze the bulb slightly so that the tube enters the bottle without overflow and the thread stays clean.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the tube or at the bottom of the bottle would get into an anhydrous product and could compromise its stability.
Do not fill the glass bottle with hot contents. Let oil blends and emulsions cool to room temperature first. A sudden change in temperature is not good for glass, and the volume of the contents also changes as they cool.
Glass is resistant to essential oils, solvents and alcohol. The silicone bulb and the plastic dropper head come into contact with the contents each time they are drawn up. For concentrated essential oils and alcohol tinctures, we therefore recommend checking the long-term behaviour of the dropper with your specific formulation. After each use, wipe the neck of the bottle so that an oil film does not make the thread sticky.
After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. The dropper can be too, but when changing the contents, the tube and the bulb must be rinsed, because residues of the previous product remain in them. Closures with the same neck type as this bottle and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Once empty, the bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper combines plastic, silicone and glass, so before recycling it has to be taken apart and the individual parts sorted by material.
