Product description

White plastic bottle with black pump dispenser, 250 ml is a complete bottle and closure set: a white PET bottle and a black pump dispenser that dispenses the contents by pressing without unscrewing. Suitable for liquid and semi-liquid products used repeatedly in small doses – liquid soap, shower gel, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, massage or body oil, facial cleansing gel or hand sanitiser. A white bottle lets less light reach the contents than clear plastic, and PET is lightweight and unbreakable, making it ideal for the bathroom where glass would be a hazard.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and both the bottle and dispenser are also approved for direct food contact. It can therefore also be used in the kitchen – for flavouring oil, syrup or vinegar for dressings.

What the set is suitable for

  • Rinse-off products in the bathroom – liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner can be dispensed with one hand, the contents do not spill and shower water does not get into the bottle as easily as with an open neck.
  • Body lotions and light creams – the dispenser handles liquid to medium-thick emulsions; lotion and light emulsion flow smoothly, a thick body cream will not.
  • Body oils and oil serums – PET does not normally react with oils, the dispenser measures the same amount with each use and the contents do not come into contact with hands.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting solutions – hand gel or water-alcohol cleaning preparations have a low viscosity that suits the dispenser.
  • Food liquids – thanks to food-contact certification, home-made oils, syrups and liquid condiments as well.

How the dispenser works

The dispenser screws onto the bottle neck and a dip tube that draws the contents from the bottom reaches into the filling. One press delivers approximately 1 ml of product – for liquid soap or lotion this corresponds to one standard palm-sized dose. Thicker contents will reduce the dose or the dispenser may not pick it up at all, so with creams and thicker gels we recommend testing dispensing on a small sample before filling the entire batch.

The dispenser tube may be longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, cut it at an angle so it reaches just to the bottom without bending – a bent tube draws poorly and leaves unused product at the bottom.

The bottle has a 24/410 neck, so it can also be used with other closures of the same neck type from the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and the packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for with standard filling – the label and the declared product quantity are set to this. Total brim-full volume is larger, because above the nominal level the bottle has a reserve for the dip tube and the dispenser body and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the neck. If the bottle were filled completely, screwing on the dispenser would push the contents out and it would overflow from the neck.

What is good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle and dispenser before first use, rinse with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the tube dilutes the first doses and unnecessarily burdens the preservative system in preserved products.
  • Viscosity of the filling – add thickeners with care and always test the finished formulation through the dispenser, not just in a beaker.
  • Essential oils and solvents – PET and PP are resistant at typical cosmetic concentrations. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, d-limonene or pure solvents, we recommend testing on a sample, as they may gradually degrade the plastic.
  • Heat – PET is not intended for hot filling; pour emulsions and gels only after they have cooled to room temperature, otherwise the bottle may deform.
  • Reuse – the set can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the dispenser of PP; separate them before disposal so they can be sorted individually.

When filling for the first time, the dispenser will only draw air from the tube for several presses. This is normal – the contents will appear only after the tube has been filled; it is not a fault of the dispenser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 250 ml plastic bottle with pump dispenser suitable for liquid soap and shower gel?
Yes, the set is designed precisely for rinse-off products of this type. Liquid soap, shower gel and shampoo all have a viscosity that the dispenser reliably draws and dispenses on pressing. The bottle is unbreakable, making it suitable for the shower and the sink, and the dispenser protects the contents from unnecessary contact with water and hands.
Can the bottle with dispenser be used for food, for example oil?
Yes, both the bottle and dispenser are approved for direct food contact, so the set can be used for home-made oils, syrups or vinegar. Wash and dry the packaging before the first filling. The dispenser pumps oil without problems; for thick syrups we recommend testing whether it can handle them.
Does the 24/410 plastic dispenser also dispense thick cream?
Not reliably. The dispenser is designed for liquid to medium-thick products such as body lotion or light emulsion. It will not draw a thick body cream or butter, or will only deliver a small and irregular dose. For thick creams, a jar or pot is more suitable; if you want a dispenser, adjust the formulation to a thinner consistency.
Does the white PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Partially. The white colour lets less light reach the contents than clear plastic, which helps with oils and light-sensitive formulations. However, it is not a full substitute for dark glass with very sensitive ingredients.
How much product is filled into the 250 ml dispenser bottle?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, i.e. 250 ml, not to the brim of the neck. Above this level there remains a reserve for the dip tube and the dispenser body and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If you overfill the bottle, the contents will be pushed out of the neck when the dispenser is screwed on.
Can I reuse the plastic dispenser bottle after it is empty?
Yes, the set is designed for repeated use. Flush the dispenser with warm water by pumping several times until clean water comes out, wash the bottle and disinfect both with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Allow all parts to dry completely before refilling so that residual water does not get into the product.
