The packaging and cap combinations created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test – to verify sealing, dosing and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation (viscosity, content of oils, alcohol or surfactants).

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Is this plastic bottle suitable for both liquid and thicker cosmetic products?

Yes, the HDPE bottle with flip-top cap is designed to work well with common liquid and slightly thicker cosmetic formulations, such as tonics, light emulsions or gel products. For significantly thick creams or pastes, we recommend checking the suitability of the packaging by test filling so that you can verify smooth dispensing and comfortable use.

How should I prepare the bottle before the first filling or repeated use?

The packaging can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. Before each filling, we recommend mechanically cleaning the bottle and cap (from residues of the original product) and then thoroughly disinfecting them with a suitable disinfectant, for example with isopropyl alcohol or 96% ethanol of plant origin. After disinfection, let all parts dry completely to minimize the risk of microbial contamination of the new product.

Can I sterilize this HDPE bottle at high temperature or in a dishwasher?

HDPE plastic withstands higher temperatures than some other plastics; however, long-term or repeated exposure to very high temperatures may affect the shape and properties of the packaging. For these reasons, we do not recommend boiling the bottle or washing it in a dishwasher at high temperatures. For cleaning and disinfection, it is more suitable to use hand washing with a mild detergent, thorough rinsing, and subsequent disinfection with alcohol according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

How should I correctly recycle the bottle if I no longer want to reuse it?

The method of recycling must always be adapted to the type of material indicated in the product parameters (for example the HDPE designation or the relevant recycling symbol). Before placing it in separate collection, we recommend emptying the bottle, possibly rinsing it from content residues, and separating the plastic cap if it is made from a different plastic type than the container body. Then place the packaging in the container designated for plastics according to the local rules of separate waste collection in your municipality or city.
