Product description

This white plastic bottle with a capacity of 250 ml and a black mini trigger sprayer is intended for filling liquid products that are applied as a fine mist. The set is suitable for facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing body and hair sprays, or aqueous solutions of active ingredients. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP, and both parts have the same thread. The white wall of the bottle hides the contents and limits the passage of light, so products with more sensitive ingredients are better protected than in a clear bottle.

What the set is suitable for

The sprayer produces a fine mist, so it works best with liquid contents of low viscosity: water, hydrosols, toners, diluted alcohol solutions, or aqueous solutions of solubilised essential oils. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which is enough for one spray over the face or hair and makes it possible to estimate how many applications the whole pack will provide.

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – aqueous products with a preservative, applied to the skin directly with the sprayer without touching them with your hands.
  • Hair and body sprays – refreshing waters, leave-in sprays of low viscosity, diluted hair toners.

Oils, thick serums, emulsions and products with suspended particles are not suitable for a mini trigger sprayer. The nozzle does not break them into a mist, the dispensing will be uneven and the mechanism may become blocked.

Nominal volume and filling

The value of 250 ml is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is larger. The difference is a reserve for the tube and the sprayer mechanism and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise it will overflow when you screw on the sprayer and part of the contents will remain in the thread.

Before first use, press the sprayer several times to prime it, until the tube fills and the mist starts to come out evenly. The tube is longer than the bottle and bends at the bottom. If it gets in the way, shorten it so that it ends just above the bottom.

Contact with cosmetics and food

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declarations of conformity for both components are provided with the product. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the sprayer does not. The set is therefore intended for cosmetics.

Good to know

The bottle and the sprayer arrive clean, but before filling we recommend rinsing them, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Moisture left in the bottle or in the tube would dilute the contents and could weaken the preservative system of an aqueous product.

Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals. With a high proportion of undiluted essential oils or with solvents, test the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation beforehand. Do not pour hot contents into the bottle, as heat deforms plastic. Let the product cool to room temperature before filling.

Both parts can be reused. Once empty, rinse the sprayer with clean water and spray it several times to remove product residues from the mechanism. When switching the contents to a different type of product, we recommend replacing the sprayer, as residues of fragrance or dye in the nozzle cannot be removed completely.

You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The bottle is sorted as PET and the sprayer as PP. Separate the two parts before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 250 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for oil or an oil serum?
No, the mini trigger sprayer is intended for liquid contents of low viscosity. Oils and thick serums are not turned into a mist by the nozzle; they come out in a stream or in drops, and the mechanism gradually becomes blocked. A bottle with a pump or a dropper is more suitable for oils. Keep the sprayer for toners, hydrosols and aqueous or alcohol-based sprays.
Can I put a preservative-free hydrosol in the white PET bottle with a sprayer?
The packaging allows it, but a hydrosol without a preservative will not keep well in the bottle and there is a risk of microbial spoilage of the contents. With every press the sprayer draws air into the bottle, so the contents are not sealed off from the surroundings. Aqueous products intended for repeated use should be preserved, and the bottle should be disinfected before filling.
How many applications do you get from a 250 ml bottle with a mini trigger sprayer?
One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which gives roughly 1 700–1 800 presses when the bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 250 ml. The actual number depends on the strength of the press, the viscosity of the contents and how much liquid remains below the end of the tube. For face or hair sprays, one application usually takes several presses.
Does the white plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Partly, yes. The white bottle hides the contents and limits the passage of light better than a clear bottle, but it does not provide complete protection. Store products with light-sensitive ingredients away from direct sunlight in any case. For ordinary toners, hydrosols and refreshing sprays, white PET is sufficient.
Can the bottle with a 24/410 sprayer be used more than once?
Yes, both the bottle and the sprayer can be refilled after thorough cleaning. Rinse the bottle, disinfect it with alcohol and let it dry; rinse the sprayer with clean water and pump it until it is empty. When changing the type of product, especially after fragranced or coloured preparations, it is better to use a new sprayer, as residues in the nozzle cannot be removed completely.
