Product description

A white plastic bottle with a capacity of 300 ml and a matte white flip-top cap is a ready-to-use set for liquid cosmetics of medium viscosity: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners and body lotions. The cap opens with one hand and the contents are dispensed through a small opening. It is therefore suitable for use in the shower and at the washbasin, where a screw cap is difficult to handle.

The bottle is made of PET, a lightweight plastic that will not break if dropped, making it suitable for the bathroom and travel. The white colouring conceals the contents. This is appreciated with products containing plant extracts or fragrances whose colour naturally changes over time.

How the set dispenses and which products it is designed for

The flip-top cap has a hinged lid and a narrow dispensing opening. The contents are dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle or tilting it. It therefore works best with products that flow but are not as thin as water.

Shampoos, shower gels and liquid soaps – surfactant-based products with a gel consistency dispense cleanly through the opening and the lid snaps shut easily after use.
Conditioners and body lotions – thinner emulsions that can be easily squeezed from the bottle.
Massage and body oils – the narrow opening makes it easy to dispense a small amount into the palm.

Very thin liquids (tonics, hydrolats) flow too freely through the flip-top opening and are better served by a spray. Thick creams and butters cannot be fully dispensed from the bottle; a jar or pot is more suitable for them.

With a new formulation, fill one test bottle first and check how the product dispenses at room temperature and in a cooler bathroom. Gels and emulsions thicken in the cold, and what dispenses easily in summer may be harder to squeeze through the opening in winter.

Nominal and total volume

The 300 ml figure is the nominal volume, meaning the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the rim of the neck is slightly larger. The difference serves as headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not up to the neck. A product filled to the brim may leak when closing the cap or in warm conditions.

What is worth knowing before filling

Before the first filling, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Any residual water in the container would unnecessarily burden the product's preservation.

PET deforms under heat. Products prepared hot should only be filled once they have cooled to near room temperature, and the bottle should not be washed with boiling water or in a dishwasher.

PET is suitable for finished cosmetics with a standard content of vegetable oils, surfactants or fragrance ingredients. However, do not expose it to aggressive chemicals such as solvents.

The set is suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The food-grade certificate for direct contact with food applies to the bottle only; the cap does not hold one. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.

The smooth cylindrical surface of the bottle labels well; the dimensions needed for label design are listed in the specifications. The neck has a standard thread type, so the cap can be replaced with another closure of the same neck size from the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying seal integrity, dispensing behaviour and packaging compatibility with the specific formulation.

Yes, this set is primarily designed for shampoos and shower gels. The flip-top cap opens with one hand and the contents are dispensed by squeezing the bottle through the narrow opening, making it comfortable to use even in the shower. With very thick gels, it is advisable to test in advance whether they can be comfortably squeezed from the bottle.

Can the plastic bottle with flip-top cap be used for food?

Not as a set. The food-contact certificate applies only to the bottle itself; the flip-top cap does not hold one. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic products, for which both the bottle and cap are declared as suitable. For food use, the bottle would need to be combined with a closure that has its own food-contact certificate.

Boiling water and dishwashers are not suitable, as PET deforms under heat. It is important to also rinse the dispensing opening and the area under the lid, where product residue tends to accumulate.

How much product fits in the 300 ml plastic bottle?

The bottle is designed for 300 ml of product, which is its nominal volume. Physically, it holds slightly more up to the rim of the neck, but this space serves as headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. When filling by weight, account for the density of the specific product, as 300 ml does not necessarily weigh 300 g.

Is the white 300 ml PET bottle suitable for oils and products with essential oils?

Yes, the PET bottle is suitable for body and massage oils as well as for finished cosmetics with a standard content of essential oils. The flip-top cap also makes it easy to dispense a small amount of oil. However, it is not suitable for concentrated essential oils or solvents, as these can damage the plastic with prolonged contact.
