Nourish your lips with a natural lip balm even during summer

Since we are having a hot summer and we want our natural balm to remain in as solid a state as possible at these high temperatures, it is necessary to choose ingredients that have a higher melting point.

So, for example, instead of coconut oil, which is ideal specifically for winter balms, we will use waxes and cocoa butter, shea butter.

To determine the correct ratio of raw materials, it is necessary, despite the stated quantities, to experiment a little. It is not only a question of temperature, but also of your preferences and subjective feeling. So if it seems to you that the balm is too hard for you, during the next production replace the shea/cocoa butter with coconut oil or reduce the wax dosage, which creates on the lips a feeling like after the application of the well-known traditional deer tallow. Not everyone finds this feeling on the lips pleasant.

But let’s move on to the recipe itself.

Ingredients

For the production of the balm we will need:

20 g cocoa butter
you can choose natural, but also deodorized, depending on whether you want to perceive the cocoa aroma

49.5 g oil
you can choose any nourishing oil, for example almond, avocado, jojoba, excellent is castor oil, which is however thicker, therefore reduce the dosage, but it is perfect for nourishing the lips, there is currently a very wide range on the market from refined oils through cold-pressed ones up to organic quality, it is only up to you what quality of ingredients you choose

0.5 g essential oil*
we chose a combination of myrrh and orange (sweet orange) in a ratio of 1:4

*for conversion, 0.1 g essential oil is approximately 2–3 drops
You can also replace the essential oil with flavours for balms.

Procedure

Melt and mix all the ingredients except the essential oil in a hot water bath, remove from the heat and add the drops of essential oil.

TIP:

Since we have our new coloured sticks for balm in our offer, they almost beg to be filled with a coloured balm. Therefore, do not hesitate and experiment also with our Mica powders. If you decide on a coloured natural lip balm, it is necessary to mix Mica in the selected amount into the liquid phase, ideally into the oil, and to mix such coloured oil into the melted mixture.
